I think what outonalimb is asking is, why someone would come here if they were not an exjw, His question was, is there anyone here that was NOT a JW and if so why. So what he is asking is why people that are not directly healing from what the org did why are they here, at least that is how I took it. And I would say those that stay that were never members, like us crazy people and maybe they were not directly effected by the org, but indirectly....

Piety????
by wonderwoman77 ini am reading a book called "the blessings of imperfection: reflection on the mystery of everyday life" by peter fleck and he makes some remarkable statements about piety and believing there is only one answer to spiritual and religious beliefs.
he says "pietism can also be expressed in the relationship between the individual and other individuals, that is as adams puts it with the other saints, with the chosen few, chosen by me, those who think as i do, live as i do, who are well clad and fed as i am, who do not disturb my inner harmony with questions of justice, equality, and freedom.
theirs is a relationship of partiality against with james warns 'if you show partiality, you commit sin.

F2J--
But Jesus was not pious as some of you present yourselves. He would spend time with people who did not share his beliefs and he would have discussions with people without telling them, YOU ARE WRONG. I think it is great that you have found what you need in the bible. And that you have found what you need in Jesus, that is wonderful. That did not bring inner harmony to me. SO according to you I should practice something that does not feel right to me and does not have meaning to me? It is not that I did not try, I really tried to be a christian for a long time for the fact it was the "right" thing to do, but it never felt right for me. What I do now feels right, I am tapping into my inner peace.

I am reading a book called "The Blessings of Imperfection: Reflection on the Mystery of Everyday Life" by Peter Fleck and he makes some remarkable statements about piety and believing there is only one answer to spiritual and religious beliefs. I thought this was interesting. I think that there are many spiritual paths and every person should follow the one that brings them inner harmony, yet many of you disagreed with me on other posts. I did not ask you to share my beliefs, but entertain the thought that you spirituality may be right for you and bring you harmony, but does that mean it must bring everyone else that same feeling?
Fleck goes on to say "Is there indeed an implicit conflict between inner harmony and concern for, compassion with, the other? I believe there is. But the effort to resolve the conflict may lead to the height of human spirituality. The redemptivie quality of the Gospel story lies in the fact taht it presents a solution to that conflict. Some human beings find inner harmony in compassionate involvement with other." He then goes on to speak of Mother Teresa and how she found her inner harmony that way.
I agree, it is all about finding our inner harmony. I know many of you find this in the bible, I commend you for finding that, but please do not be pious and think everyone must find their inner harmony within the bible as well.

by wonderwoman77 inhey all, i know some of you know that a while back my gf and i were having troubles but then things got better, well they started getting worse again, so i decided it was best to end it.

Thank you for all your support everyone, I really appreciate it. You all are wonderful people...thanks again.
F2J--I never said there is not right and wrong. I said I thought there was not a right or wrong religion. I do think their are moral principles, mine are just not what all yours are. You do not have to like the fact that I am bisexual, but I have felt that and known that I was since I was 10. I personally do not think God wants us to ignore any part of ourselves. If we ignore parts of ourselves how can we ever achieve self-actualization? The fact is we could not. So I do not ignore parts of me, I do not think God expects that of us. You obviously feel that your God expects that of you, and that is fine, to bad you have to ignore part of yourself....

F2J---
you are just so ignorant sometimes. if you had a clue what it was like to be bisexual and know that you were since a very young age and all the other stuff that goes with it, it is not a walk in the park, but it is who I am, and people like you just need to deal....

How do you know if you're going to heaven?
by Christiangal inthe only way to go to heaven is believing that jesus christ is god's son, and that he was sent here to earth to die on the cross for our sins.
if you confess him as lord and savior, then and only then, will you be certain that you are going to heaven.

You say there is a relationship and the only possible one is to lean on jesus, but what if there are other possibilities. Maybe for your soul that is the only way and that is fine and I congratulate you on finding your path, but do not condemn other souls because they choose to have a different relationship that is right for their souls.

Abandon, your thoughts were very well stated. You said a lot of what I wanted to say but was to upset and boggled to even say in a reply. I was boggled that some people will not examine the possiblity they could be wrong, or that there may be more than one right way to do something. I in no way think I have all the answers or that my answers are right, but they are what are right for me and obviously I have thought about this a lot. I have prayed and mediated and felt peace and that is what I needed to know this was the spirtual path for me. Do you who have been attacking my beliefs feel that peace with your beliefs? What motivates you to tell others they are wrong? What motivates you to think you have all the answers? Can you prove the bible is inspired? Can you prove jesus was god without the bible or even with it? I believe much of the bible is true and we can learn from it, but I do not believe god directed the writing of it, although truth about god can be found there, but in my opinion it can be found in the scriptures of other faiths as well. I truely believe God is benovolant and he has sent us here in this life for a reason and we have to connect with our soul and find that reason and live out that reason...
