I get my beliefs from many sources. I understand that you believe in the bible, but I do not think it is the only book that God spoke to man through. I have read the hindu, buddhist and tao scriptures and have found many beliefs there. I know that you will never accept my beliefs and that is ok with me. But I have prayed to God and during that prayer and medatation had an overwhelming peace and calmness reach me, I believe christians call that holy spirit. Just because I do not believe your way does not mean I am wrong, but you think so and that is ok. But you say yours is a god of love, yet he will destroy all these people...a bit ironic? By the way I attend a Unitarian Unversalist chruch....

How do you know if you're going to heaven?
by Christiangal inthe only way to go to heaven is believing that jesus christ is god's son, and that he was sent here to earth to die on the cross for our sins.
if you confess him as lord and savior, then and only then, will you be certain that you are going to heaven.

because I am loving and let my kids have a say in what happens in there life, I will raise serial killers? Not likely, mose serial killers have a chemical imbalance and therefore had tendencies no matter how they are raised. I cannot believe people can be so closed minded to other possibilities. Afraid of thinking outside of the box may be harmful to your health....

F2J:
well that would not be my exact reponse. You see it that way, because you see only one path to God. I see a person can open themselves to God and God will direct them on the path that suits his or her soul. I know many people do not believe this, but I do. It is ok if you do not believe this, and it is ok for you to go one your path, but do not tell me I have to take that same path to have a relationship with God, because I do have a relationship with God and it is one that feels right in my heart. So how can that be wrong?
Also if my child said that to me, my first response would be what would she like to do in order to get a reward, maybe we could work out something. I do not believe anything should be a dictatorship, not with God. I think you always have to do something to have a relationship with God, it just may not need to be what the majority is doing. So my daughter or child would have to do something, but maybe not what I first expected of her....

First of all I think the concepts of heaven and hell are a bit ridiculous. If your soul goes to hell, what is the point of fire, souls experience no pain, and if bodies go there, your body would incinerate in minutes. I think that our souls continue on and continue through experiences and when you soul accomplishes what God meant for it to accomplish, you will be in a place that is in god's presences. But I do not believe one needs to accept christ to obtain anything. You have to believe the bible to believe that, and if you believe the bible, that is great for you, but that may not be the spiritual path for someone else and to say they cannot have oneness with God in other ways is absurd.

The Trinity: to believe or not to believe?
by speechless inthis question applies to those exjws who are at peace with god:.
do you now believe in the trinity?.
for myself, it took awhile for me to accept the trinity doctrine, but i finally came to believe!.

I have been an exjw for over 5 years now. Within the last year I have finally began to work through issues and find peace with God and I came to one answer that works for me. Jesus is not God. So no I do not believe in the trinity. In fact my spiritual journey has lead me past the bible. I beleive the bible has a lot of great lessons and some truth, but I do not believe it is all truth. I believe Jesus was a great man and was inspired by God and had a lot of great teachings, but I do not believe my salvation rests in accepting him as my savior. Recently when praying, I can feel an overwhelming peace come over me when I truely open myself to God. That is how I know this is the correct path for me. Now that I have started to find some beliefs I have began to look for a community and I am finding a home with a unitarian universalist chruch. It works for me. I hope everyone can find a spiritual place that works for them...

When they quote the scripture that Jesus said you will know his disciples by the love they have amongst themselves and they apply it to themselves, yet many people on this board left because of the lack of love shown in the org.

Who Draws The Line and Why?
by hillary_step ini wish to present three situations that are true to life and open up a discussion on these different scenarios and how would would personally act toward them.. 1) a 75 year old person has been a jw for the past 40 years.
most of their friends are jws.
they look forward to the fellowship at the meetings and though the congregation is far from perfect, they are pleased with the fact that they have a purpose in life.

Very interesting questions and comments here. I prolly would not try to tell them all the failings of their religion. If they have found what they feel is happiness, i should not try and take it from them. I respect others and their beliefs as long as they respect mine. I might talk to them about why I do not hold their beliefs if they wanted to engage in that conversation, but I would never flat out tell them they are wrong...

I am an ENTJ....
slightly expressed extrovert
very expressed intuitive personality
slightly expressed thinking personality
moderately expressed judging personality
I was only surprised about the last one. When I attended the UU church we talked about the thinking vs. feeling and the intuitive vs sensing in relation to spiritualiy. I knew from that I was a NT, and I know I am an extrovert....

utopian...thank you for the apology...
as for me I am done with this topic. If you cannot accept me for who I am, then that is your problem, you are missing out on one great oppurtunity to know a fantastic young lady that has survived tragedies and has come out on top. I have made my way through graduate school and will be successful!!!!!
