  here is what got my spidey senses tingling: paragraph 16, reference to daniel p mannix book, was wondering if his statement was mis-quoted so i did my research.......but was even more shocked when i saw this: .

  This was a long read, and a head scratcher. Agree with Cofty and jgnat I think. You simply can't pick and choose your verses. That's not logical. Either you take it or you chunk it.

  Welcome! There will be great days and very low days. My wife and I saught some pharmaceutical help to help us through the first few months.

  Nothing crazy, just explained my situation to my family practice doctor. "leaving cult, may lose family, may be shunned, feel panicked often and way too stressed out" of course I exaggerated some as I am going to take it very slow, but honestly the anti anxiety meds have helped immensely as I quit drinking when I realized TTATT...

  Welcome! Remember how young you are, you have your whole life ahead of you. Take it slow. Come up with a good budget and retirement plan, college fund and all that. Good luck friend.

  so first, let me explain my mindset upon reading the new light regarding the fds.

  as has been commented almost universally i knew right away that a lot of people probably thought it was always this way.

  So first, let me explain my mindset upon reading the new light regarding the FDS. As has been commented almost universally I knew right away that a lot of people probably thought it was always this way. I found it shocking, but thats another issue. As has been stated, the comments I have heard so far are along the lines of: "So glad I'm part of the domestics now!" "I thought it made more sense." "I didn't really give it much thought." I thought thats what it always was."

  So I found myself wondering WHY over and over. Why release new light that doesnt really impact a major doctrine or change much of anything for the average witness? Why release new light that isn't a refinement of a viewpoint but instead a complete reversal of one that seems kind of unnecessary? It doesn't make the end seem closer, it doesn't make the end seem farther - the two usual reasons for new light.

  On another thread I read an idea about CT Russell and am stealing it partially. I wouldn't be surprised with the domination of JW info on the internet if they realise that anyone and everyone can EASILY see how wacko early stuff was. Pyramidology, seeming to court Masons, false god symbols all over covers and pages. Russell getting his start from someone else. Now that Russell is OUT as part of the FDS, he can easily be portrayed this way:

  "Pastor Russell was a truth seeker. He was an honest and righteous man who deeply cared about learning bible truths. However, many of his early beliefs were found neccessary to be refined. Without the help of the spirit appointed FDS body he made errors as any imperfect truth seeker can do. Imagine how happy and thrilled Brother Russell is right now in heaven as he see's the refined product he helped to start. Imagine his joy at seeing so many truth seekers finding the one true channel through which they can learn about Jehovah and survive the imminent and rapidly approaching end. Let us pay close attention to the FDS as this rapidly closing door slams shut on this system."

  They may just out him with the new understanding and thereby acknowledge the wacko stuff and stress it is what is taught NOW that matters, origins are just a start and not important. I could see this being a very touchy and complex topic. Spin machine would need to be in turbo mode. The articles needed to explain this or the assembly parts would take a great deal of work. Maybe this is why it is taking so long to get a thorough explanation.

  the bible states that the final fall and destruction of jerusalem was in the 19th regnal year of nebuchadnezzar (jeremiah 52:12; 2 kings 25:1-4; 2. chron 26:11,19).

  the most secure source of absolute dates comes from contemporary inscription with astronomical observations.

  here's a few guesses.... the brooklyn waterfront is a convenient place for the society to make their videosgrowing up as a jw when your friends have cellphones and you don't is "kind of rough" and a "kind of sad story"suddenly it's ok for jw youths to "go out" with worldly friends?

  QB - Yes he told his disciples then to do the preaching as little of the known world knew it. But, I am wondering how that fits in with today...

  Anyways my main point was that I can no longer believe that billions will die who never had a chance to learn. That is what "the truth" teaches. I am hopeful that hearts will be judged and good people will be okay. Otherwise I could be making a big mistake. I have to believe the loving reflection of God I saw in Jesus over the God Moses spoke of.

  Anyways for me it all boils down to be a good person. Leave the world better than you found it. Do good. Be the best you can.

  So then QB, that would mean the odd situation of maybe over a billion non beleivers to be quickly converted and told not to fornicate etc...?

  When you are told all the time that all "worldly people" are evil, immoral degenerates, then I guess it helps to harden the heart about their death. After all we will be so happy to have God's name vindicated and his enemies destroyed... I remember imagining myself breaking out into song spontaneously as I walked out of my home and saw the fires still burning and smoke rising on the death of billions. I'm ashamed I could feel that way.

  Why would Jesus who loved the children and let them come to him and told the harlot he did not condemn her either and to go her way slaughter so many children and innocents? Creepy.
