IS there anything one moment or experience that still haunts you?
by confusedandalone inlast night me and the wife were talking about things that happened to each of us while in the borg that we wished we could have reacted differently... i mean really put someone in thier place for the foolish thing they said or the deplorable action that enacted upon you.
my wife literally almost came to tears relating something that i was not aware... i wanted to end up going back to the hall for a monthy or so just too handle it.. .
do you have anything you would like to share to help us remove our own thoughts from our minds lol.

" My sons new wife decided to home to mommy and the Elders went after our son with no kindness or love. "
I hope you do not get offended by me asking, but why did she leave? I have never heard this story. Is there a thread?

IMHO, it's rather crass to refer to someone with large lips as sausages or bubble lips.
I am giving him the benefit of the doubt that his insane actions were the cause of his dementia...
If we took 5 minutes to go through anyones posts on this message board I am sure you will find some of thier statements to be aof a rather "crass" nature. Many consider speaking negatively in anyway shape or form about a dead person to be crass, o well.

OK Farkel, let me start off by asking you to first of all "suck a dick" I do not have to explain what that means since it is self-explanatory... If you want to know what batshit crazy means go look it up you twit...
Anyway in regards to his eating a 2 foot by 2 foot pan of Jello that was not even on the menu but that he sent someone to the kitchen to bring to him at breakfast for his personal consumption on a Saturday morning at Bethel puts one in that category. Also, wearing a kimono to breakfast at BETHEL on a Saturday morning is not allowed by anyone... except a GB member who is too old to get rid of and who is BATSHIT CRAZY. Would you like me to run through all of the other insane things he has done at BETHEL??? I am sure many of the bethelites who were there durring the 1990s -earl;y 2000's will relate the many insane things he did. JUST LET ME KNOW IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW SOME. IF YOU WERE THERE AND DO NOT KNOW ANY THEN THAT IS YOUR LOSS.
Secondly you have a fondness for him no doubt because of his link to your family but honestly the man was off in his old age. Dimentia had set in or something to that effect and the man was gone... he would do things that if you saw any other person doing you would say, "HEY THAT GUY IS A NUTJOB or a WHACKADOODLE." Your buddy Lyman in his old age turned into a WHACKADOODLE.
" I found Lyman to be earthy, friendly and a good guy. " That is fine that YOU did. I found him to be a crackpot who constantly did things that made almost EVERYONE at BETHEL realize he was gone. MAybe he seemed earthy since his brain at the time was turning to dust... i don't know.
" I not only knew Lyman, but I knew his DAD!" Who gives a rats ass??? I knew and saw Lyman on a day to day when he had lost it... not sure where you were at that time. The man made fun of asian guys and blacks... not sure why. He had issues with our "bubble lips that looked like sausages"
During morning worship he would often get lost and go overtime... we all thought it was "soooo cute", by the time I left he was no longer even allowed up there. He became a bit of a joke.
Thank You

Finkelstein - using that image reminds me of a discussion I had with an elder when I was 15... I had a girlfriend at school and he told me that messing with a worldly woman would cause me to end up with aids or some other form of deadly disease. THey always use the worst possible example to prove a point... LOL

" it took 5 x 6 hour sessions and cost him hundreds of pounds." - wwhat is it that he has
Like cofty mentioned it appears you must pay good money for a good tattoo. I doubt it is JUST a fad since I have seen people with tats since I was a kid and they were of all walks of life. In regards to attention, maybe they just like to draw attention to something that is important to them. Just like a necklace with achilds name, a bumper sticker, etc... its just tats are permanent. If someone has something that they like or that means that much to them that they put it on them permanently then people should see it.
As far as getting old, well when someone is in thier 70's and they have a MOM tattoo on thier forearm that is fading I would find it kinda funny

Finkelstein - I hope you don't think I was trying to take a shot at you or anything.
I am just saying that it appears that people of your age group tend to feel that way LOL.
I don't see people genetrally putting grotesque images or unreadable things on themselves that often. Of course, you have the fad of chinese letters etc... but most people will put their childs names on themselves or something like amemorable date or an object they feel represents something. I have never really seen a grotesque butterfly or anything LOL, but I guess it is in the eye of the beholder

" They repulse me. Also, they seriously limit job prospects. I don't see this popping up in board rooms. Decorating youself is all right."
I really cant agree with this. I worked at PriceWaterhouseCoppers as well as at Yahoo and in both p[laces I frequently saw tattoos on those in leaderships positions. THe only people who I never saw with them were usually older white guys in thier late 40's up. Women had them on thier hands and legs guys all over thier arms.
I think times are changing and the older group who had the hardcore christian values are dying off or thier op[inions are becoming less important
