  Anointed Ointment

  there seems to be an irritating rash of anointment going around and i thought perhaps we could come up with a suitable salve.... question 1: on what basis do any of the so called anointed claim such a thing?

  question 2: why on earth would it matter to us?.

  question 3: how much egoism does it take to be "anointed"?.

  Question 4: Do you know how crazy it makes you sound when you claim such things?

  Now combine your answers and rub evenly over the infected logic. Apply liberally several times a day until you come to your senses.

  JWs and Retirement

  if someone has already posted this thread recently please redirect to original thread.

  metatron's observation about living in a fantasy land made me consider how many jws that still believe are just now scrambling to arrange some kind of retirement fund for themselves, or securing life insurance, or paying up serious debts.

  i was curious to know if my lovely friends have simmilar experiences like mine, where the future was never an issue and that generation of jws will have to work almost their entire lives.

I was curious to know if my lovely friends have simmilar experiences like mine, where the future was never an issue and that generation of JWs will have to work almost their entire lives. Is it my immagination, or does the same concept of fantasy apply to JWs in regards to the finances of a household? Thanks for comments.

  we had a post going recently about slave reparations in the united states.

  it led to some pretty heated and interesting discusions from all sides.

  at one point i pointed out that more people are enslaved today than at any time in history (twenty seven million).

  We might also want to consider that the computers we use are only made possible by what could be considered slave labor. The only way they are affordable is super cheap labor in Asia and Mexico.

  my room mate and i have been discussing the origins of the catholic stance on priests and celibacy.

  we're currently stuck on the concept of peter, the first pope, having been married.

  this kind of throws a kink in their whole foundation imho.

This kind of throws a kink in their whole foundation IMHO. I'm interested to know if any of you have bible references that support celibacy by priests, or you have other historical info to consider. I would appreciate any help or discourse you can throw my way.

  As well, Yerusalem got me thinking about missionaries, and how many die going to where "the need is great". Not just among JWs. I've searched high and low to no avail. I tried the UN NGO site, several cooperative missionary pages, the Catholic Almanac, etc...if anyone knows where I could find compiled data on the number of missionaries killed around the world, I would be grateful.

  Most Frightening Door to Door Experience

  in my hometown, this other witness and i were.

  going from door to door one day when we reached one particular house.. the householder became so agitated by the presence of jws.

  that he "sicked" his dog on us, but thank god it had a muzzle.

  I remeber this old woman breaking into tongues while I was in service w/my mom. Scared the hell right out of my mother..heheh...My worst was knocking on this door and it opened a little bit. When the guy came to answer the door he thought I had opened it and started yelling at me. I was totally crying and when I told my mom, she has the nerve to ask me.."Well did you open it?"......
