They're already starting the media spin. Talking about how he was abused by his parents and all of that crap. It must be nice to shoot your wife, get to hang out free for almost a year and then have everyone around you rationalize your behavior. The average Joe would be thrown in jail immediately. I guess I need my own TV show.

do they "mystically manipulate"people joining them?.
im inclined to say they dont.. they are almost unique in this.. practically every cult ive joined, i could recite a litany of manipulation techniques applied to me during my joining process.. the dubs study with people, systematically, unemotionally.. noone else does this in my experience.. people who join the dubs join under "intellectual conviction".. do you agree with this view or not??.
im most curious to hear opinions on this.
I think JWs take on a significant emotional investment when they study w/someone, especially the longer the study goes on, which usually leads to taking them to the hall, doing things for them, etc. This, in my opinion, is the hook. A couple of things will happen. The person will abuse the "privilidge" and will discontinue the study. Naturally this gives the JW hours of discussion topic. Another twist of fate may be that the person becomes a member of the borg and falls into their particular caste among the JWs. I definitely think JWs manipulate people, and indeed expect them to become JWs, for "befriending" them.

i checked out this really cool book from the library called don't know much about the bible.
it talks about a hebrew legend recorded in the medieval alphabet of ben sira regarding a lilith who was adam's first wife, who preceded eve.
in this version, lilith is created from the earth, as adam was.
I'm not sure if I'd trust mythology as a basis for my beliefs though.
So the biblical accounts of the flood are stories, but not mythology? The tale of immaculate conception is a story, but not a myth? The resurrection is a story, but not a myth? I guess stories are as good as anything else, but it seems to me you stepped in it. You mention earlier that lineage and other historical facts can be found in the Bible. If you take away all the stories then you're left w/an ancient almanac. Lots to base faith on eh? Regardsless if the bible was written by dog or not, I think I would be more comfortable treating the encyclopedia as gospel.
