I'm believing that the purest form of revolt against any religion is the acceptance and promulgation of facts as confirmed by science.
From pure faith to pure science though is a huge leap.
as the information age is apon us and it doesn't take that much information to easily prove this new light by the governing body granting them absolute loyalty and power is a blatant power grab by a bunch of over the hill ego maniacs i see a revolt in the making..

so (according to the bible) methuselah lived to be 969, noah 950, jared 962 and so on and so on.
did they simply count years differently back then?
what accounted for the long life spans in bible times?
Black man,
have to agree with cofty.
i've been watching a very interesting documentary regarding the state of planet earth.. in a nutshell, (scientifically/physically/factualy) earth is experiencing 'pressure' that points to one inevitable result, to correct itself (or more specifically, to correct the effects of the present human cause, in ex- pollution, global warming, resource depletion etc.)..
the last time earth 'corrected' itself, there was mass extinction.
for proof, check out the dinosaur fossil record (unless they are a hoax.).
Wizard - 'The man-made global warming scam'
it's a scam because other planets are experiencing global warming too? I think you miss the point Wizard. If Earth is suppose to experience a rise in temperature naturally, SOMETHING is hurrying this process up. Wether is the suv's we drive or the energy you stated globalists use, its still the human factor.

Ray,
except this isn't the watchtower. Google 'Nova Power Surge', this is one of the programs i was referring to. There is PLENTY of scientific evidence presented here.
I believe an optimistic attitude is important in solving this problem myself. But it is clear 'optimism' alone is not going to take care of it. If you believe what true bonafide provable science is showing us, i think its hard not to at least ponder on these concerns.
it's possible that you are confusing faith with something more tangible here when you say that 'all this reminds me of the watchtower'.

a random passing meteorite is another theory i've often read.
this program presented scientific evidence that that Earth's temperature was nearing the same numbers that existed right before dinosaurs became extinct.
who knows, maybe the random meteorite pushed that event over the edge, a spark, so to speak.
raypublisher -
we are discussing how it has been scientifically proven that Earth is nearing a critical condition that cannot be sustained. (as in 'the numbers don't lie'). we are using planet Earth more than replenishing it, and it cant go on forever. Many scientists are claiming that we are in fact PRETTY close to reaching that point, the END, when we auto-extinct ourselves...some scientists claim as soon as in the next 50 years or so. There is math and science to back this up, no kidding.
what is more interesting is that, scientifically/mathematically man can avert this cataclysm, if only it wants to.
on a side note- it's made me wonder if religion at some point figured out that Earth had gone through 'cataclysmic' changes, did it use this knowledge to instill the fear of 'armaggeddon' in people. An END caused by the hand of God, when in fact, its nature running its course.
we know religion had a stronghold on science at one point (astronomy and physics for example), what's to say religion did not discover how nature 'restarted' itself every so often and used it to its advantage.

Interestingly,
man appears capable of being able to avert this next correction. it just needs a big incentive. (although if survival of you or your children is not a big enough incentive, i dont know what is.)
if enough people on Earth can take measures, the END can be averted. Scientifically, this claim is accurate. What is blowing my mind is that scientists are warning we don't have much time. In fact, our children could realistically see adverse effects in their lifetime.
if we don't take measures, the END will come, but it doesn't appear that it will be due to some battle at Armaggedon.
i read how many here have learned ttat, leave the jw faith, but then subscribe to the 'true' gospel of jesus.. it seems rather contradictory.
the jw faith teaches a very positive 'concept' of christ and his teachings, how is this different from the way other religions teach it?.
it seems more logical to discard or ignore any claims of historic or authentic proof of christ's existence.

Who will love you to death despite yourself?
Who will forgive the very worst of your sins and clean up your life?
Who will clothe you with laughter in the midst of trials?
Who will not let you get away with anything but take you to the woodshed until you learn holiness?
Who will fortify you with His Spirit and speak peace to your soul
Who is absolutely worthy of your love?

i believe that the 'point' of the stranger writing 'what is the question?' underneath your sticker was that he had no questions for the concept of Jesus.

It seems more logical to discard or ignore ANY claims of historic or authentic proof of Christ's existence. (his 'teachings' on the other hand, are pretty sound and depending on your personality worthy of aspiring to. these teachings, though, don't require that they originate from the mouth of Jesus aka they are universal).
a little research makes it clear that embracing the 'concept' of religion and 'use' it to achieve an apotheosis state has long been the goal of man for countless ages.. i'm beginning to to feel that ct russell was perhaps no different.
apotheosis requires a very important element (universal in all religions) that not only 'validates' x version of a religion, but catapults its leader/s into the 'stratosphere'.
this element is a 'symbol', an object or thing connecting the leader here on earth with x god in heaven.

This element is a 'symbol', an object or thing connecting the leader here on earth with X god in heaven. (catholic church for example swear Peter's bones are underneath the vatican).
Was Russell looking for said symbol as well? Did he go to Egypt hoping to find an artifact or object on or near the pyramids that would validate his interpretations? The Egyptians had a very powerful symbol, the pyramids (perfectly and mathematically lined up underneath specific constelations no less), thus Russell might of attempted to 'steal' or commandeer this symbol for his own.
the problem was, these symbols were already taken, by the egyptians. therefore, Russell's attempts at transferring this symbol's meaning onto his interpretations were rather weak, to say the least.
he WAS however, in my opinion, on the right idea. just clumsy execution.
