i think the wtb&ts publication titled "the kingdom interlinear of the christian greek scriptures" speaks for itself.. the word for word translation of the greek into english.. that publication does not even contain the name or word jehovah either in hebrew letters or greek letters anywhere in the word for word texts.. their is not one scripture in the n.t.

So you are saying that my inferring that God’s personal name was used when they quoted from the OT is just interpretation on my part. Okay, so can you say for certain that the DN was not written at all in the originals? If you say it was not written, then is that speculation on your part as well?

Again, you are saying based on the copies on hand that the name is not recorded as being said but can you say for certain that the DN was not written at all in the originals?

When you say we have the words of Jesus written down that would included his words saying:

"The works I do in my Father’s name"

“I’ve made your name known to them and will continue to make it known"

“I have revealed your name to the people you gave me from this world.”

“This is eternal life: to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you sent”

Based on that, do you find it reasonable that when Jesus and his apostles did quote from the Hebrew Scriptures that they would have said the name?

If you do not believe they used the name, then can you tell me what reason they would have had to refrain from using it?

You have it backwards, believing that Jesus was a real person does not make you a Christian, but identifying yourself as an Christian is saying that you believe/follow Jesus.

I am suggesting in general that anyone/everyone that claims to be an Christian is identifying themselves as believers/followers of Jesus, this would include JW's. The fact that no one you know or people in general don't think JW's are 'Christians' in the traditional sense doesn't change the fact that JW's do regard themselves as Christians and they are so, in as much as any other so-called Christian religion claim to be.

As for what you say about JW's relaying on the GB for salvation, that is true but that doesn't nullify their belief in Jesus. JW's are in the same position today as the Jews were when Jesus said: 7 You hypocrites, Isaiah aptly prophesied about you when he said:+ 8 ‘This people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far removed from me. 9 It is in vain that they keep worshipping me, for they teach commands of men as doctrines.’

In this case YES. I do not agree with all that Robert believes but on that topic I share the same understanding, so I posted the link to his site being that he has already written out what I would have said in support of why I believe the DN was in the original Greek Scriptures, etc.

As far as the WTS using Jehovah vs. Yahweh, that's not relevant to this thread. I am not a defender of the WTS, I was simply replying to smiddy's topic. I happen to believe thou that Jehovah is the more correct way...or should I say Jehoah is as I have pointed out here before.

As far as adding/taking away, is it really adding if you are restoring? The name is found there in the Hebrew Scriptures that are quoted in the Greek Scriptures.

Based on the copies on hand...NO, I can not say for certain where. But according to Jesus he said: 'the works he did were in his Father’s name', etc...so I would think that it is not unreasonable that he used it despite there not currently being written record of the usage.

Matt 4:4,7, 10 to start with and other places where he quoted from the Hebrew Scriptures.

I know the argument that the oldest Greek copies on hand do not have the DN written in those places, but just as you can tell me that I can't say for certain that the originals and those that followed up until the oldest now on hand did have the DN there, I can tell you that you can't say for certain that it was not there.

But I can add reasoning to support that it was there, whereas those that argue it wasn't there cannot support their argument that it was not.

I did not ignore or am I missing any point. The topic is to cite a Scripture in the Greek Scriptures where there is a charge for Christian's to witness for Jehovah.

The mere fact that anyone would identify themselves as an Christian is in itself already being a witness for Jesus being that an Christian is known to be an 'follower of Jesus Christ.'

If one were to truly follow him, that would mean to also do works in the name of whom Jesus said was his father and thereby also making that name known.

I agree! Why don't they start there...just make everyplace a mandatory report. That would mean that there isn't any reason to report to an elder/WTS to begin with. The victim themselves would be mandatory to report or is victim told parents/family/friends first, (especially is victim was a minor) then whomever was told first should report.

I never understood why elders are told to begin with. I have not heard a JW ever say that their car was stolen or bike was stolen or house was broken into...so they are going to an elder to tell him. No, they go straight to the police, so why when abused not go straight to police?

As shitty as the WTS is with their policies, why do most here always blame the WTS/elders for not reporting, instead of blaming the ones who reported to the elders to begin with?

If for whatever reason the victim told an elder first, then I agree that that elder should report it (especially if it was mandatory law to do so, which is why all states should all have such laws) but if an elder was not told first, then whoever was/is should be the one/s to do so.
