"And...what about the five women who had been named as the inheritors of Russell's stock?"
According to the 1945 charter amendment, only men are to be nominated as shareholders.
a older sister in miami florida has told me that the special pioneer couple who got their walking papers last week said they are also voting members of the watchtower society.
also his stock share is valued at $800,000!.
i did some research and spoke to some longtime witnesses and found out that there are 500 voting members of the society and they are also called shareholders.. has anyone ever of someone selling his share?.

From the 1945 charter amendment which was adopted in September 1944:
"Such nominee [voting member] shall be elected... by the Board of Directors... No member shall sell, transfer or assign his vote... be conveyed by will or other instrument upon a member's death."

Please reveal sources.
From: A Great Battle in the Ecclesiastical heavens
"For each contribution of $10.00 the contributor is entitled to one voting share. While there are nearly two hundred thousand shares, and it would be an easy matter to elect some other man as president, there never has been cast a vote against Pastor Russell."
I should like to ask: does anyone have any idea of what happened to the stock value of the WTBTS before the cut off date in the forties and does it still continue amongst the inheritors of the original stock holders ...or was it realised at that time and henceforth abolished? This does require an answer.
From: A Great Battle in the Ecclesiastical heavens
"This is a non-stock corporation; it pays no dividends, no salaries, and no one has ever, as its books clearly show, reaped any financial benefit therefrom. It is supported entirely by voluntary contributions made by those who are interested in the promulgation of Bible Truths. Its work is exclusively religious."

Hi Half Banana,
"I knew of the "shareholding" voters but wasn't aware of their financial stake in the business success of the Watchtower org."
I'm not aware of their financial stake either. You might be referring to someone else's post.
I agree with Orphancrow in that I'm not aware that the voting shares have any monetary value today.
It used to have back in Russell's day, but that was just a buy-in value to be able to vote. Post Rutherford it was done away with.

When the 1942(5?) charter was instituted, the monetary value was eliminated from the voting shares.
dropoffyourkeylee is correct: "The current structure dates back to about 1944 if memory serves."

And who are the mysterious board of directors?
Don Adams is president of the WTBTS of Pennsylvania and has to be re-elected every three years.
Some of them also serve on the committees:

Wait a minute, they vote?!?
Yep since Russell's day. In his day there was 4 428 voting shareholders.
After Russell/Rutherford post 1942: No less than 300, no more than 500 voting shareholders.
But the voting is basically just a rubber stamp to re-elect the board of directors.
in jw land having such was verboten.

Jafari would eventually retire as a general and participate on 12 November 2007, at a National Press Club conference demanding a worldwide investigation into UFO phenomena...While the object and the F-4 continued on a southerly path, a smaller second object detached itself from the first and advanced on the F-4 at high speed. Lieutenant Jafari, thinking he was under attack, tried to launch an AIM-9 sidewinder missile, but he suddenly lost all instrumentation, including weapons control, and all communication. He later stated he attempted to eject, but to no avail, as this system, which is entirely mechanical, also malfunctioned.
..the Defence Intelligence Agency ...assessed the quality of the report. The form indicated in checked boxes that the content was of high value, that the report was confirmed by other sources, and that the utility of the information was potentially useful to them. The form from the DIA also stated the following:
"An outstanding report. This case is a classic which meets all the criteria necessary for a valid study of the UFO phenomenon:
a) The object was seen by multiple witnesses from different locations (i.e., Shamiran, Mehrabad, and the dry lake bed) and viewpoints (both airborne and from the ground).
b) The credibility of many of the witnesses was high (an Air Force general, qualified aircrews, and experienced tower operators).
c) Visual sightings were confirmed by radar.
d) Similar electromagnetic effects (EME) were reported by three separate aircraft.
e) There were physiological effects on some crew members (i.e., loss of night vision due to the brightness of the object).
f) An inordinate amount of maneuverability was displayed by the UFOs."
They're here...
...and we're doomed... DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMED!
