If you look at the list Siegswife has copied, and some obviously failed to understand, including the original poster, you will see the word "oppsition" used at some occations, and added with the other articles some have copied, one cannot but agree that the NWT is an accurate translation here.

There have been a number of such events, which in a way are "disturbing";
The Lillelid murders;
The 6 Witnesses who are toild about in this thread;
The Witness who had her unborn child cut out of her womb;
The car crah with was it 4 children? an dthe mother killed;
And the huge one, in Spain, where large parts of a congregation burned to death in a bus, screaming and knocking at windows to get out, while bystanders due to the heatcould only stand watching how they were burned to death.
It is not easy, in the face of such events, to state that God is watching and taking care and protecting. There was an article som eyears ago about a female Witness who desperately wanted to go to the convention, but who had no money. So she grew strawberries, and they were so plentyfull and big that people from all over the place came to wonder at them. And she sold, and she got money, and away she went.
There was a fisherman in France I think, who called off sihing on his boat because he went to the convention. The crew were angry. Later on, they caught so much that it more than made up for the "convention loss".
When this terrible accident in Spain happened, these other stories about seeming protection fell to the ground in my eyes. One needs to be veeeery cautious before explaining something as Divine intervention. -

Those teaching me about Catholics and the Pope, were / are Catholics. I lived in the Catholic part of Germany for two years, with a German Catholic family, I went to mass etc., and the general attitude of the Catholics of the whole area was for this Pope to get lost, as he seemed to live in a totally different century and world than the Catholics of Europe. Lately, I have got friends who are stout Catholics from Colombia, and their attitude is that this Pope had better get lost because he stands for a continuation of the economic exploitation which has marred Latinamerica for centuries, and he threatened to excommunicate the popular / mass movement priests who stood up in the 60s and 70s. I have learned nothing from the WTBTS or the GB about Catholisism - I have learned it from the Catholic movement, and from Catholic writers / theologists from Germany like Kueng etc. The foul play of the Pope and Catholisism is so obvious and clear for everyone to see, that for anybody to "LOVE" that stupidity I do not understand. Allowing himself to be carried? To be kissed? To be called "Father"? Man, few things make me more angry than looking at Papacy. Only good thing about it is that it has produced the IRA.

They never tell the "rest of the story"
by lv4fer inlast night i was watching the 700 club (i was actually channel surfing i don't normally watch this) they were talking about how in france and in denmark where they are making it difficult for christians.
what i found interesting about this is that they talked about how there was a law past, in last year or so that has had a major impact on various christian religions.
they also brought out how they think this may be a new trend in europe.

Not against Christendom, myfriend, because these attacks are strongly backed or even proposed by the great churches, the Protestant, Catholic, whatever - it is a campaign against everything which doesn't quite fit in, which isn't according to the middle-of-the-road-Catholic-Protestant-Socialdemocratic-Capitalist way of life. By its cooperation with Cesnur, WTBTS clearly tells this is a danger for more than them alone, and you can check that out by looking at their official site as well, or the jw-media site.

That's OK, but the point was to LOVE that old Altzheimer guy, who issues directives which, to the extent they are followed by stout Catholics, will produce AIDS and freeze the present-day economic exploitation carried out by the Catholic clergy in a number of countries, as Colombia, as Venezuela, as Brasil etc.

I did NOT say Catholics say Yes to AIDS; I said the POPE in effect says YES to AIDS, because he refuses Catholics to use condoms, which at least give some protection against the virus. Refusing Catholics in Africa to use condoms is like saying YES to AIDS. And that is no lie.

Love this Pope? Who says No to condoms, No to birth control of any kind, in effect Yes to AIDS, No to radical priests trying to distribute the wealth of the Church, who lets himself be carried and kissed and worshipped and called "Father"? Love him? No way!

NWT translation
by apostate man ini have been doing a lot of research lately on jws and the new world translation.
through history, i found that king james, in 1604, ordered a commitee to accurately translate the original scriptures, from hebrew and greek, into the english language.
this took 47 people 7 years to do and thus came up with the kj bible.

Jason BeDuhn's book where he compares various New Testament translations, will be out towards the end of this year. It is quite clear that in spite of some blunders, he ranks he NWT among the very best translations ever - and he is no way biased, he is theologically uninterested, he is a language man. I think it is far too easy for people not being into Greek or Hebrew studies to shout here or elsewhere thatit is a corrupt translation; one needs to spesify, compare, study, not just shout. Kader recommended the Old Testament translation of the NWT and received letters from people critizising the NWT. OK, he said, send me examples, spesify what you mean. And he writes afterwards that he has not received any spesifications; they critics never replied, it was - as this - just shouting with no real content. So in stead of three lines of shouting, one needs to dig deeper.

Rutherford: From newsie to Millionaire
by PistAnarkist inmy name is andy pesante, i'm 22 years old, and my father is an elder of a congregation in philadelphia.
we started going to meetings when i was 12. living in a crappy big city like philly can really close your eyes to the real issues surrounding our society.....after all why would you even care when everyone regards each other with a glare right?
i met my wife (who also grew up a witness) over the internet, and we eventually eloped together 3 years ago.

To Skimmer: While there is one black, as you say, on the GB, it is not correct that all whites are Americans. One need not be American in order to be white, and if you read the life stories of the GB members, you will see that among the whites there are/were apart from the Americans men from Austria, Germany, Greece, New Zealand, England, Scotland. White, by all means, but not Americans.

Still can't do alternative service?
by ozziepost inthis news report is showing on the wts site:.
yerevan, armenia"i love my homeland and am prepared to do any beneficial work for it that is not connected with the military.
" these words were spoken yesterday by 21-year old henrik hovnikyan, a young jehovahs witness being tried a second time for his refusal to serve in the military.

No guess needed, as you are correct; possibilities of alternative service are non-existant.
