It is mentioned and discussed in many articles, but it is just that it has not been dealt with as a topic of its own. Reading the articles you will find under subheadings Evolution, Creation, Darwinism etc., will yield numerous references to the Law.

Florida town casts out Satan
by fodeja inso that's florida for you then.. .
inglis mayor carolyn risher said september 11 terror attacks inspired her to compose a proclamation banning satan from her town.
inglis, florida (cnn) -- if he's thinking of visiting florida's west coast, satan might want to steer clear of inglis.. the mayor of this small fishing village in florida has declared the prince of darkness persona non grata -- in essence, telling him to go to the devil.. "satan, ruler of darkness, giver of evil, destroyer of what is good and just, is not now, nor ever again will be, a part of this town of inglis," mayor carolyn risher says in a proclamation, which was issued on official town stationery.. risher said the events of september 11 inspired her to pursue the proclamation, which the town commission supports.. "it gave me the inspiration that these people need to be ready if something like this was to happen to the town of inglis.

I am so happy for Inglis Town, that the people there will not be bothered by visits from Mr. Bush.

"Judge" Joseph Rutherford
by VM44 inhas anyone noticed that in recent years, when the watchtower.
writes about rutherford, they refer to him as "joseph rutherford",.
never as "judge rutherford"?.

When Nathan Homer Knorr was introduced as a speaker, he was introduced as "Mister Knorr"; when Joseph Franklin Rutherford was introduced, he was so done as "Judge Rutherford"; today, one uses neither "Mister" nor "Judge". What is the fuzz?

Blood cards - before screaming too loudly,
by TheOldHippie inkeep in mind that the blood cards are produced and circulated in all other countries worldwide.
if they are not so in the us, please do not scream too loudly that major changes are occuring etc., because this has got to be some local us thing, if it is true what you say that they are not renewed in the us.
-
TheOldHippie
"Not renewed in Finland, either" - does that mean you have received NO new cards, or that you HAVE received new cards and the old ones therefore are not "renewed" but substituted?
I'm not trying to be funny, my language is not good either, but just to sort things out.
So perhaps something IS happening? -

blood cards for assembly entrance?
by hungry4life inin a recent post someone mentioned that at an assembly or convention in the u.k. they would not let him in until he showed either a blood card or convention badge.
the person then named some elders he knew and was finally allowed in.
is this typical at u.k. conventions?
-
TheOldHippie
You know that since conventions are open to the public, such situations could never occur, so this must be - and cannot be anything else than - a misunderstanding. Perhaps it was referred to the Annual Meeting, where invited ones are the only ones to be there, or to the Elder Training Course, where special invitation cards must be presented.

SamBeli: Please don't forget the majority is now NOT in their 80s or 90s, but in their 50s thru 70s, and so the health situation today is not as it was 5 years ago. Roesch and the four new ones are close to have a majority, and there are only a couple of the "real oldies" left.

My Response To J R Brown
by silentlambs inmy response to j. r. brown.
i am writing to follow up with information concerning j. r. browns response to comments i made to the media regarding watchtowers policy hurting children and protecting pedophiles.
in the course of the last year the jehovahs witness public information department headed by j. r. brown and local elders have repeatedly offered misinformation to the public.

Allow me, please, to briefly comment on your points as I see them, and have seen them in my years of service:
**********************************************************************1. If a pedophile were to move into your congregation, would you be informed?
The picture is not quite as black and white as you say, as the elders in the new congregation would keep an eye on him, and they would have been told by the ones in the former congregation what has been the situation.
2. If a pedophile molested your child, would you be allowed to warn other parents in your congregation?
I do not believe the gossip articles should be referred to here, as quietly warning people is something different from gossip.
3. If a pedophile denied he molested your child, and you could not produce two witnesses to the act of molestation, would the church discipline him/her in any way?
Discipline is one thing, making him aware of the situation and that one is keeping an eye on him, is another. He would be followed up.
4. If the state where you reside does not require reporting a pedophile that has molested a minor, will church officials report it?
This is a US thing - in this area, he would be reported, IF the elders are sane. If they say not to, they are NOT sane.
5. If, as an adult, you charge a pedophile with molesting you when you were a child and he denies it, would he discontinue serving as an elder?
One may shout at me here, but my feelings are, that whatever a person has done, if many - many - years have gone by and there have been no new incidents or anything, everybody deserves a second chance, don't you think? If you have something utterly wrong and you have completed the punishment handed out by society, you have paid your dues in that respect, and you should be allowed to try to give it a new start. I do not quite understand the campaigns in the USA where one hangs up posters etc. of previous offenders - they have no chance of starting all over again. Information to social workers, but to the general public? It ain't done in Europe, and I have problems seeing why it is deemed such a good thing, without questioning it.
Just to end it with stating again that of course they should be reported to the police, and there should be no hushing it down. On the other hand, we have seen instances where the allegations were mere productions of disturbed minds, and where the so-called offenders have been released after many years in jail, after it has been proved the allegations were false, returning to no family, no job, no house, but the convictions were false. Or they have hanged themselves in jail, as one man here did a couple of months or so ago. He had appealed, but lost. Then he hanged himself. Then the daughter and the mother came forward and said that it was all a fake, they wanted to give him a lesson because he had been too restrictive in financial matters, and after the appeal they wanted to tell the police it was all a fake. But too late, he had hanged himself.
These are so messy questions. I don't think the "Give 'em hell!" shouts, be it at the offenders or at the Society, is the Number One solution.
But I was never hurt or destroyed this way, so perhaps there are two worlds here, where we in world number one are theoretically discussing this, whereas those in world number two are the ones who have experienced it, and the two worlds here are unable to meet or to understand each other fully. I don't know.
Anyway, no matter what one believes, it's a shitty world. -
