  i found this quote in the march 1st wt particularily sickening...the april 16-22 study, paragraph 4. i won't reproduce the scriptures for you... section name: the happiness of those in the light or really the happiness of those in the organisation.

  (isa 26:1,2) these are the exultant words of people who trusted in jehovah.

  faithful jews in isaiah's day looked to jehovah, not to false gods of their fellow countrymen, as the only real source of security.

  Paranormal...

  following on from the demon post....has anyone here seen anything paranormal (eg out of the ordinary)??

  (ufo's, ghosts, etc).

  here's the only thing i've seen that i consider weird.

  Here's the only thing i've seen that I consider weird. I'll reproduce an email of mine for you all.

  But before that i'll fill you in with some details. In Australian folklore there is a creature called the Yowie. It's described as half human - half Ape, between 4ft and 12 ft tall, omnivorous, known to attack and kill humans*, kill livestock, raid orchards for fruit, or sometimes do harmless window visits on unsuspecting victims.

  You Yanks call this creature Bigfoot or Sasquatch in your country.

  * Not all Yowies are dangerous as some have been known to be harmless/benign/playful.

  The Yowie is supposedly only folklore but there's been hundred's of sightings since 1788 to this current day. See the website http://www.yowiehunters.com for more details.

  Hi!,

  You might have read my posts and thought that i'm a skeptic, well a long time ago I thought I saw something that you guys call a Yowie. When I was aged 3-5 (i'm now aged 22) I used to live in Canberra and cos it was cold in winter we used to go chopping for wood. Well, one day about 1983 my whole family (mum, dad and me) and 2 others went chopping for wood in a forest about an hours drive from Canberra (we went chopping at that same site every month or so). I remember on this occasion while the rest of the party was chopping and collecting wood (mum was watching them), I went to have a rest (got bored easy then) in the car (car was about 30 feet from the tree line and a fair way (about 50 metres) from the rest of them (Don't quote me on distance cos i'm hopeless at it)). After getting bored after 5 minutes, I opened the rear passenger side door facing the forest while I was laying down down on the seat. I gazed into the forest to see a creature about 20 feet in from the edge of the clearing. Well this thing saw me (took about 2 or 3 seconds to look at me after I opened the door. It had been gazing at my parents and friends as they were cutting sick with chainsaws and axe's) and stood and stared at me. I didn't feel threatened or scared. I'd describe the creature as about 5ft tall, heavy set, dark chocolate coloured hair, magpie coloured eyes (maroon - blood coloured), face was sort of like a gorilla's (I nicknamed it "Gorilla-man" and "Monkey-man" after I saw it). It was very ape-like yet had more of the form of a human. I didn't believe what I saw. I used to like Apes (still do) when I was younger (I used to have a monkey as a teddy bear (I called it monkey). I knew my parents had a camera in the front seat so I got up and reached over (it was an XB Falcon) and got the camera. I took 3 or 4 pics out of the opened car door, in the direction of the thing (I didn't look I just clicked and pointed. but after taking the pics I realised he was gone). I haven't really checked the pictures but I remember that they didn't have "it" in them. All it was was a picture of half a car door and forest

  I've never told this story b4 to anyone and even now i'm confused and still don't believe I saw it.

  how is a regular week as a jw?number of meetings and hours of service bible studys etc.?.

  "Any job that would keep you from attending the meetings is seriously frowned upon."

  What an understatement! You get absolutely hammered and get the cold shoulder. I was in fulltime employment from June 2000 to January 2001 and I was treated like an outcast in everything in JWdom all that time.

  I needs a "Proclaimer" book - will trade

  anyone out there want to work out a trade.. i need a new copy of the watchtower's "proclaimers" book - their revisionist history of the organization.. i've read that more than a few of y'all here are still hooked up with the org in different ways and some still go to kingdom hall.. well, since this book is " f r e e " , it shouldn't be a huge prob to secure a copy... and if someone can, i've got wt schtuff to trade for a new copy of "proclaimers" .. anyone wanna do a deal?.

  Randawg: Oldest trick in the book.

  Look at Romans 16:1-21 it's Paul speaking. Look at verse 22 it's his secretary speaking. Does that make Paul and Tertius the same considering its the same as in the last chapter of Revelation?

  we have the king james version, the new international version (the most widely accepted one), the new world translation.... in the nwt version, we will find the word jehovah about 237 times.

  There are many versions of the bible, as we all know. We have the King James Version, the New International Version (the most widely accepted one), the New World Translation...

  I know which one i'd use that's for sure! NWT beats them all hands down.

  In the NWT version, we will find the word Jehovah about 237 times. Yet, in the original Greek manuscript it does not appear once.
  I'm sure it has been explained to me many times, but no one has yet been able to satisfactorily explain why words like Christ was removed and Jehovah inserted in its place.

  How about in Revelation 19? There are for and against arguments for having Jehovah in the NT. See the book by Raymond Franz called "In search of christian freedom" for more on it.

  I've seen it once where Christ was removed and Jehovah put in its place......early manuscripts have God there and later manuscripts (4th century) onwards have Christ....So God would be put there cos anything 4th century onwards would be suspect or a bit dodgy.

  Just because the divine name wasn't used doesn't mean God is a trinity.

  On a separate note, the founder of the WTBTS, Charles Taze Russell did not create the word Jehovah, but he is the founder of the WTBTS... that caused much confusion for me for ages! So the 'inventor' of the word Jehovah, then can be attributed to his successor, J F Rutherford.

  I recently visited some bible student's and I told them that Russell created Jehovah's Witnesses....big no no. The name Jehovah was I believe created by a catholic priest in the 12th century.
