Now, those examples just happen to be birthdays, but that doesn't mean one couldn't celebrate one without being a complete twit like those in the Bible, so the Scripturality of such an injunction against birthdays is lost on principle. It could have been easily two weddings, or anniversary parties, or the like.

Are teenagers old enought to get baptised?
by sleepy ini, like many on this board got baptised when still a teenager (17).. at the time i thought i knew what i was doing and could take full responsibility for my actions.. 10 years later i realise i knew very little back then compared to what i know now.. was i old enought to make my mind up?.
or could we always at any age ,be looking back at things we did wrong thinking if only i knew what i know now?.
actually how much responsibility can we hold over what we did as teenagers .weren't we pushed by the congregation and parents, we had little knowledge of anything else being force fed the "truth" since babies.. at such a young age aren't we much more vulnerable to brainwashing ?.

Internet warnings in the UK?
by meat pie ini was recently visited by a jw ( he is a really nice old chap who has his own doubts) and he said 'internet' more times than you would think possible in a fairly short conversation.
either he has been told something, or there have been extra warnings against the internet at circuit assembly, co talks etc.
does anyone know if there have been extra warnings just lately?

TLC Program -- Car Crash with JW

the learning channel in one of those wild police chase video programs.... about the "music".... did any one here watch a tlc program that comes on once in a while about wild police chases and there's this chase where a car crashes into a set of gas pumps, and just sits there stunned and dazed in his white car while the officers yell at him to get out now, then one of the officers sacrifices his safety and uses his cruiser to bump off this freak from the burning gas pump island and out of the fire....then an officer comments on the blaring "classical music" he heard blaring from his car stereo at full blast all the while he seemed oblivious to this whole situation?.
guess what that "classical music" at full blast was?

Ex JW Down and Outs.
by refiners fire ina large proportion of the ex jws i know and stay in contact with are pretty much down and out.. i stay in contact with 4 from my past.. out of the 4:.
3 of them are long term unemployed.. 3 of those have psychiatric problems.. 2 of them dont have a stable relationship.. only 1 of them is a reasonable financial success.. my perception of the ex dub world is one of destroyed lives and, too a large degree, hopelessness.i base this perception on those ex dubs i know.
course, they are all hard core apostates.

Well, let's see in my case....I have stable job, stable relationship, am only psycho sometimes and don't do anything stupid with my money, and invest for the long term....so I guess I fit into your 25%. I have more hope now than I ever did, and I have always had issues with the Society.....I probably spend an average time on the net, some time here....have family responsibilities.......
I'm not obsessed with magic, paranormal, ufo's....but I do listen to Coast-to-coast AM often.....but not to the detriment of everything else.....but then I've spent considerable time getting to where I am today.
Your majority cross sample would have applied to me much more 10 years ago, however!

Guess what that "classical music" at full blast was? A Kingdom Melody! I can't remember exactly, but I think it was song 144 or such. It never dawned on me until I saw the show again a few months later. I couldn't believe it, until I got out the song book, hummed a few bars to the song, and it matched!
BTW; I found the exact song this dude was blaring just now; it was song 181, Join In The Kingdom Song (when it was blaring from the car radio it was a dead ringer for a Kingdumb Melody...all I did was match it to the tune in my head at the time....) It was a hoot though that the officer refered to it as "classical music" LOL -

seems they want to bleed the catholics for all they can before picking up on the nazarines, protestants of various stripes and the juu's.. i've stopped telling people about it since it seems to be dragging on for ever.
