i was coming out of a movie theatre with my "worldly" girlfriend.
after a couple pleasantries we departed and they finished cleaning the theatre's windows .

I wish I'd had the same frame of mind 10 years ago when I wrote my letter. I was told by one of the JC elders, "If we don't receive a letter from you disassociating yourself within a week, we'll disfellowship you." I thought, "Well, dammit, this is going to be my decision, not yours." I was young and didn't realize that by sending my letter I was acknowledging the threat he was making against me. If I really wanted to send them a message to kiss my a$$, I'd have done nothing.
On the other hand, I was 18 and didn't want anyone to think I didn't respond because I was being apathetic.
Anyways, I'm glad you've made the decision that's right for you. (((HUGS)))

help, cuz i am like a scared baby
by Vivamus init's 2 am, and my whole country is asleep and i badly need to talk, and someone to hold me.
i have been out of this fucking cult for nearly two years, and i have not been bothered by demonz since then ... until now.
right.. i woke up, not able to breathe and see a thing, and i grabbed the phone to call my boyfriend, but i must have misdialed ( thank god, cuz he'd think i was nuts otherwise) and then i tried to scream, but i couldn't.

OMG They are doing commercials now!?
by flower ini just finished watching martha stewart and after it went off there was a set of commercials before the news came on and i swear i just saw a commercial from the christian congregation of jehovahs' witnesses!.
it was about raising your children with knowledge and love.
it showed a teen girl on the internet in a chat room with a person who had become her best friend and wanted to meet her in person and they said something like if it seems too good to be true it is..'love builds happy familys' was the slogan or something.. .

I guess it would depend on the subject. For instance, if I knew with certainty what would happen to me after I die, I think it would make the balance of life rather uninteresting. I enjoy musing on the possibilities of what could happen after death.

Att: ex-Elders and Their Kids: Did You Really Have a Regular Family Study?
by Room 215 infriends, this is a sort of poll, directed mainly at -- but not limited to --ex-elders, their wives and kids.
it was my impression that, with the possible exception of meaningful personal prayer, the other aspect of the idealized, exemplary jw lifestyle that was portrayed at the assemblies and at meetings-- the regular, weekly family bible study -- was the one most neglected.
it seemed to be something the ``other" spiritual family did and the one thing we constantly agreed we ``needed to work on.".

My dad's not an ex-elder; but yes, always, always always. One of my earliest memories is standing beside my dad at the dining room table learning to read from the Watchtower during our Monday night family study. From the day I was born until the day I left, Monday night was family study night.

Yup, I had to stand outside. Up until grade 8, my parents came in and explained everything to my teachers; but in grade 8, my mum couldn't go; so I had to do it myself.
In high school, there was a designated room for all the JWs to sit in.
My high school had that too; as if we weren't already treated as lepers.
Now when I'm at a sporting event, political rally (yup, you read that right), or whatever, and the national anthem is played, I sing it loud and proud.
