  It doesn't turn me on...

  how 'bout knowing you've contributed to a moment of cognitive dissonance for a loved dub, on whatever topic, giving them pause?

  it's rare for me, but it feels great when that happens. it kind of seems to soften the sharpest edges of my loved dub, making him a wee little more tolerable each time we interact. then again, there are times when it feels altogether pointless, too. mostly i don't get caught up in it, but once in a while it feels great to stand up for my perspective against all odds of ever being understood.

  About the "but it's run by imperfect men" argument.

  by the same token, couldn't any religion use the same argument to excuse their flaws and atrocities?

  they are, after all, run by "imperfect" men as well.

  i guess that means they're actually inspired of god too, but simply run by imperfect men who make mistakes..

  ....the bible was written by imperfect men, yet they consider that to be infallible. If god were truly using them in the same way he used the bible writers, their record would be the same.

  that's a good opener, keyser soze. sadly, the jws I deal with are staunchly convinced the jws record is quite flawless and anything else is demonic apostate lies. they actually believe that the record is the same and believe that they have seen this for their own eyes. :(

  "imperfect men" who publish statements like this:

  "Respond to the directions of the organization as you would the voice of God" (The Watchtower, June 15th 1957 Issue, Page 370)

  Yeah, LUKEWARM , totally. This reminds me of another pet peeve of mine about the dubs. That Jesus never gave consideration to a seizure, namely, being equal to god, certainly hasn't stopped the "governing body" from doing so in many ways. Grrr. Maddening.

  this topic is in sympathy for all jehovah's witnesses visiting this site who have had bad experiences after they left the jws and went out into the world.

  i've heard many ex-jehovah's witnesses saying, "well, i went into the world and found nothing but trouble!!

  What is Divorce like for a Baptised JW

  could you please tell me just what happens at the congregation level when a baptised brother gets divorced?.

  does he just go ahead and do it legally or must he let the elders know?

  the situation i am wondering about is a fellow who was separated from his non jw wife for several years after she quit attending the kh.

  Worldly Mannerisms That Dubs Avoids

  i know some mannerisms to avoid such as when someone sneezes, dubs don't say, "bless you" or "god bless you" for sacrilious reasons.. so the question is, what worldly mannerisms do dubs avoid?.
