i saw this on someone's facebook and thought it would be a really fitting response to certain people... "people like you are the reason people like me need medication".

Your article said some still live in the area..same with Times Beach..people actually go there for beach parties now. I bet they don't know the story behind these places..not too much said about them publically ...

i was curious over my reaction to something my brother said to me the other day.. he asked me if i had accepted christ.... i am not overly relgious since leaving the jw's and am just now starting to think there may possibly be something greater than us out there.
but.... when he asked me that i felt like i had to make all kinds of excuses and apologize in a way because i don't even think about things like that and also think people that do are a little fanatic..(jmo).. then i got to thinking, why did i feel guilty when he asked me that?
how can some poeple do that?

I can't think of the last time I was asked if I'd accepted Jesus. Maybe back in the 80s?
It was a first for me... He caught me off guard..I suddenly felt like I would be condemed by him if I said anything negative..

One high-profile case resulted in a $1.3 million court judgment against AT&T. A federal court found that the telecommunications company fired one employee and suspended another after they skipped work to attend a Jehovah's Witness convention when they weren't given time off.
Well quotes is really screwing up my post..but I was saying that a gal I worked with in the bank was getting married and they had arranged to get 4 days off for a honeymoon. At the last minute someone got fired or called in sick and they actually made that gal come in right after she got married. She could have sued for a bundle if the witnesses can got foolish amounts over something like this. After all marriage is a bible celebration also..This manager later got fired because him and his co manager sat outside all morning one day and ended up getting suburned..the big shot made a surprise visit and caught them outside.. served him right..this girl enjoyed seeing him pack up and go!

ps..I notice one section is for "Contradictions"...
hey there folks,.
i remember some time ago there was a wonderfully written website which dealt with jehovah's witness children specific type of suppression causing a higher number of very creative children than other religious forms of suppression.
i was wondering if anyone remembered what this link was?.
Hope someone finds it..interesting as I know a few that were gifted in art.

If someone says something that makes me feel guilty, its usually because I already felt bad about it, and have been ignoring the issue. However, if I don't feel that I have done anything wrong, then I won't feel guilty about it, even if they think I should, even if they try very hard to load me down with a guilt trip, and that includes my mother
That's just it Tammy, even if I have done nothing to feel guilty about they can make me feel guilty..they're good!.. I think I will try to accomplish this trick of making others feel guilty..

My brother reads the Bible a lot! He really gets into the history etc. He also listens and calls in to talk (argue) with Arnold Murray..a popular religious talk show. I looked this guy up an I am not impressed.
Good point about the WTBTS..after I quit the religion and was working I must have said "I'm sorry" a lot because one of my co workers even pointed it out to me one time that I did that.
I don't do it like I used to but apparently it is still in me and apparently I let my older brother intimidate me..and then I started thinking that it seems there are a few people in my life that can do that. I'll have to analyze that..
Just for an example, say you are eating a plate full of spagetti and someone with you says, "You aren't going to eat all of that are you?"..my first instinct would be to say .."No, of course not" and I would only eat a portion of it.. or say while shopping you pick oout a really nice dress you like..the other person says "You aren't going to buy that awful thing are you?"... I would say "No I was just looking at it"...and put it back.
What makes some people talk to others like that..do they think that person is an idiot or something? The way they say it like You aren't are you automatically puts you on the defense and apologetic...what's up with that?... I would never dream of saying that to another person, I have enough respect for them to let them make their own choices and let them have their own opinions..
Snoozy..who is really not a wimp...
