Don't feel bad, Smiddy. My mother was one of many whose faith was only made stronger by the failure of 1975. To this day, she pretends that she understood that they were not making any predictions of the end, and she waits breathlessly for Armageddon, which is surely almost upon us.

LMsA: Oh boy did he fail miserably in this regard:
It's possible that he is being the best dad and husband he can be. It's just that his potential is limited to being really bad at both. Some people just really suck at things that almost everyone else manages to do a decent job of.
I mean, it's either that, or he's a filthy, lying douchebag. Okay, that might be a false dichotomy. He might simply be a miserable failure, as you said. Any other options? It's not looking good for the "best dad/husband" candidate of 2019!

DerekMoors: aided and abetted by Richard Kelly and AAWA
I suppose it's fitting that Evans would get his start by working with someone named R. Kelly.

ForeverAlone: @TonusOH Who is this "anyone" that tried to say he used "other" funds?
I don't recall who or where, I just remember either Evans or some others putting forth the idea that he wasn't using Patreon funds and that he made enough from YouTube to cover any such costs. The idea was to split hairs and demonstrate that he was not misusing Patreon funds.
It may have been in response to some posts in this topic where it was being wondered if that might be a violation of Patreon terms or possibly even the law.

Diogenesister: But anyway any number of professions, particularly those connected with child welfare, expect some degree of ethical behaviour in your private life.
...and since he depends on donations/views, the obligation to him is not nearly the same as it would be if he was a salaried worker. His financial supporters are not his boss, but the terms of their support are also very limited. Any individual supporter can withdraw their support at any time and for any reason. For example, if he told me that his funds were his to do with as he pleased and that he could use them to buy sex, I could cancel my subscription or quit watching his videos. And he could do nothing to stop me.
That was one of his early missteps, pretending that he could tell his patrons to mind their own business without facing consequences. 500+ lost patrons later, he has been shown to be quite wrong about that.

joey jojo: The anointed will all be gone before Armageddon.
Are you sure? Their number seems to increase every year. I'm looking forward to the day when the number of participants at the memorial reaches 144,001.

Watchtower/GB use Memorial to do SATAN'S work!
by BoogerMan inthe cult's dogma claims the exodus foreigners were not participants of the law covenant and use it is an antitype to prove the “other sheep” are not participants of the new covenant - wt 98 2/1 p.19, par.
6. their demonic dogma is then enforced annually via the org's anti-christ ritual - the memorial of christ's death - to compel jw's to reject christ and the new covenant.. deuteronomy 29:10-15 screams “liars” & "offspring of vipers" at the watchtower hierarchy!.
are jw's too blinded to read and understand the bible for themselves????????????.

Too afraid. Remember that the WTS makes it clear that only the GB can interpret scripture and that anyone who does so on their own is at risk of disfellowshipping, possibly for apostasy. Thinking for yourself is a sure way to get kicked out of a cult.

I recall when there was an attempt to claim that his YouTube income was sufficient to cover his visits to sex workers. This was after the livestream. But in his livestream (which was on YouTube) he never mentioned his YT income. He said that he did not have to account for how he spent the money he was given, in response to people who were referring to Patreon, not YT. He implied that his "earnings" were like those of any salaried worker, his to do with as he pleased.
If he, or his supporters, want to pretend that he wasn't using Patreon funds to pay hookers for sex (or "dates" ) then they're ignoring the way he spoke about it in his livestream. Only afterwards, when the realization hit that his patrons might not see it the same way, did anyone try to make it seem as if he only used other funds to pay for sex.

What decade or era in human history do you like the most or would have liked to live during?
by Fisherman inin the us, the 60s and 70s was a great time to be alive except for getting drafted if you wanted to be that age.
they were music years, greatest movies, fun, simpler and enjoyable days—also except for the d&ugs.

I enjoyed the 90s and early aughts, they seem more carefree to me than the present day, though I feel I am much better off now than I was then. I think those years were when political correctness began to run amok and the two political parties in the USA began to form a very clear and aggressive division between them, almost demanding that people choose one side or another instead of focusing on individual issues.
But there was still pushback to those ideas and it felt more free at the time. We were as close to an imperfect balance as we might ever be, now it seems as if we're waiting for one party to overthrow the other and take the country down with it.
Also, I was younger...

This seems to be an attitude that hasn't changed since very early in the organization's history. Wasn't it Russell who told readers that they were better off reading his Studies in the Scriptures than they were reading the Bible itself? I mean, he pretty much said that if you only read the Bible, you'd "fall into darkness" after some time, or words to that effect. It's no surprise that they eventually decided on using their own translation of the Bible.
