You also have to wonder about what kind of person would demand unending suffering for finite crimes (which that person has the power to undo) from creatures that it designed and created. A human who acted this way would be seen as a sadistic personality and not a pleasant or just person at all. A god who took back the gift of life and ended our existence might seem a bit cold, but much more fair than one who would torment us forever.

Do you think the Watchtower is right about about eternal punishment of the wicked?
by Vanderhoven7 inatheists believe death is the end of personal existence.
but for those who believe there is life after death, what do you think is the nature of final punishment?
in other words do you agree with the atheists and the watchtower society or is there eternal ongoing conscious punishment awaiting the wicked.

Assembly Dramas:They were so bad.... but.... you waited for them to break away from the monotony!
by RULES & REGULATIONS in.
you do remember the four day assemblies... sitting outdoors being fried in the sweltering heat, getting heat stroke in the middle of july in an outdoor baseball stadium.sitting outdoors from 9:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. was so much fun while you wore a suit, long sleeve shirt and a tie while your brain fried.
mom's who had children to take care of,lug strollers, feed all the kids, take them for bathroom breaks and try to not faint from the heat.. the sound and audio was always breaking and barely audible from the wind, airplanes flying over and (if you attended the cicero, illinois circuit )you would smell horse manure from the horse stables next door.. you know that you are a jehovah's witness.... when the only excitement waiting for the drama... where brothers and sisters dress up in ancient cloths, fake beards, fake rocks and fake soldier uniforms and wave their hands incessantly to pretend that they are acting out a drama.the excitement was unbearable!.

Simon: The one drama that was awesome was when the pitch was raised a few feet and during the part of the drama where an earthquake swallowed some unfaithful from the OT (I can't even remember), they slipped down the side of it and it gave the appearance that the earth was actually swallowing them.
I remember that drama, but we saw it at the Belmont Racetrack in New York. That wasn't a bad venue for the summer conventions, since there was good shade and some nice areas where the seats were arranged in small fenced sections (6 seats to each, I think). A family of five or six could have one of those to themselves and it wasn't a bad way to spend the convention.... assuming you got there early enough to reserve one.
Like others here, I remember that the dramas were something we looked forward to because it broke up the monotony of one talk after another. I don't think I cared that the costumes were a bit cheap looking and the acting was often poor; I wasn't expecting a fancy and expensive presentation and we knew that it was done by people donating time and effort to build the sets and costumes and to do the acting.
But mostly, we were happy for a reprieve from the endless talk talk talk...

LOL. "It has been observed."
Translation: we know that most of you could make it in person, but you'd rather listen in on Zoom in your pajamas with the camera turned off. But we can't prove it, so we'll go with the vague blanket statement from anonymous "observers," even if it gives the impression that you're all a bunch of opportunistic tattle-tales. Then we'll pretend that God is offended that you're not making enough of a sacrifice to attend the meetings and lay the guilt on nice and thick. After all, we don't want to you leave! Also, please donate more, we're pretty tight on cash. Jehovah bless you all with our most sincere gratitude and love!

SBF: People need his videos?
I think what he means is, he needs the income from his videos. Dating sex workers can get quite expensive!

Unmarried couple staying at my house
by suavojr ini need your help with this topic.
i’m trying to find an elder’s letter or wt article that frown upon a good standing jw allowing an unmarried couple to stay over their house for the night.. my wife claims this is a conscience matter and i say that’s bs, this leadership does not allow it.
would like to find this info..

Why not ask an elder at her congregation? After all, if your wife is wrong, she risks being called to a judicial committee. At the very least, there will be some stigma attached to that if others in the congregation find out. At worst, she could be reproved or disfellowshipped.
If she isn't comfortable asking that question of an elder, then that by itself should be an indication that things are not quite right, isn't it?

They could have just used 2 Peter 3:10:
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Ding: Sounds like they updated one paragraph with "new light" but not another.
If this was an RPG, they would claim that their Sword of a Thousand New Truths had malfunctioned, or something.

Hellothere: Sorry but I do think they believe what they write.
I get what you are saying, and a part of me thinks you are right. But it is also difficult to comprehend-- these are men who know about the false predictions and all of the strange things that were written and said in the past. They have to know, I cannot imagine how they are not aware of the organization's past. How can they know these things and still feel they are in the right?
And yet, I have known men who were in for decades and believed devoutly, even though I know that they had to know of that history (because some had even lived it!). The way our minds can wall off thoughts and ideas that make us uncomfortable is as amazing as it is troubling.

LMsA: Lloyd did quite well with green handshakes and I can’t even remember an overseas trip that wasn’t funded at least in part by the local JWs. I know of at least two such donors who would send him $100-$200 a month through PayPal and have now stopped.
During his confessional livestream (where he was admitting to cheating on his wife with prostitutes for years), there was at least one person offering to pay for a vacation for him and his family as a way of helping him deal with the stressful situation he was in. The fact that he had created that situation did not deter people from offering what would have been a gift of a few thousand dollars, at least. (To say nothing of the $3000 or so that was donated during that same livestream!)
People who are waiting for him to run out of funds might have to wait a while. Until the last of his really generous donors decides to walk away, he'll have a surprising amount of money coming in each month.

The damage that has been done by the attitude of "let Jehovah take care of your needs" is enormous. How many families scraped by for years, secure in the belief that God would provide and that they would not need to worry about their later years since Armageddon was near? How many of them realized, only too late, that they were facing a lengthy period of deprivation and suffering because God did not provide and the end did not arrive? How many of them are even aware that others like them are the reason the GB lives so well, using them up like paper towels and discarding them when they are no longer useful?
