Hmmm...nobody noticed the hidden message?
many times on jwd we squabble and argue,.
even to the point of angry fights.. really, we all have our points-of-view.. really, we all think we are right.. you jws especially.. christmas time is a nice time of year, though.. however we individually believe, we wish each other peace.. rex included.
i wish everyone at jwd a very merry christmas.. share it with someone you love.. try to be peaceable with your fellow humans.. make time for others.. and have a wonderful 2002. soon enough, you know will be back in october to tell us our doom!
Thanks, Tina & Larc.

the bible contains accounts of some horrendously voilent happenings.. some more graphic then many modern films.. this disturbs many when they first read those accounts.. heres one that stood out to me when i first read it.. 1 samuel 15:33 "with that samuel went hacking a'gag to pieces before jehovah in gil'gal".
it wasn't enough just to kill him but samuel hacked him to pieces in front of a large crowd of people.. i wouldn't want to get into a tangle with samuel if he got out of the wrong side of bed that morning.
Following me around again? ;-)
Nope, just noticing your comments in threads we are both reading.
Ah yes, Seeker, the noble defender of all agnostic thought.Nope, some agnostic thought is shallow and wronog.
Let's see if I have this right: Good information = anti-God scholars (reputable); Bad information = Christian apologists;Nope, Good information is well-thought-out, logically consistent, and thorough. Bad information is shallow, contradictory, and off-topic. Key = accuracy.
Key = disbelief in Christianity.
You just can't stand to see anyone take a stand!Nope, I can't stand to see shallow thinking.
You can only associate that with Watchtowerism and that is your achilles heel.Nope, I've long since moved on beyond Watchtowerism. The fact that you can't see that is your achilles heel.
Have you taken to reading my oft-recommended books or are you still just reinforcing your own world-view?Nope, I read your stuff oftentimes, and that's how I can tell your thinking is shallow.
Well, you got every statement wrong, Rex. Remarkable.

Why would you bring back a thread that I thoroughly trashed?
With all due respect, Rex, you tend to speak in superlatives and absolutes. You did that as a JW too, except you were wrong despite your absolutes. So the fact that you think you thoroughly trashed an argument may not, you may be surprised to learn, carry much weight with the rest of us who see through your shallow, one-track thinking.
You wouldn't have believed me back when you were a JW, and you don't believe me now. But that is how you are viewed for you keep displaying shallow thought processes. If you ever learn how to think critically, you'll begin to understand why we like you as a person, but despair of your ever learning to distinguish good information from bad.
And yes, I know, you think I'm wrong and you're right. That's the problem.
here is an interesting article by a local columnist that underscores the invalidity of the christian religion as god's chosen one.
it also casts serious doubt on the bible as well as jesus' originality.
this is really nothing new to those of us who have researched it.. http://www.sun-herald.com/newsarchive2/122301/cl2.htm?date=122301&story=cl2.htm.
When are all of the Bible doubters going to realize that practically every objection they have can be turned back on them?
Maybe when it starts to happen.
As for this topic, the golden rule predates all religions. It's merely a common-sense observation that must have been made among the earliest human communities and then later incorporated into various religious ideas that were developed over time.
ok, folks, the year is almost up, and it's time for the critics to post their list of the ten best movies of the year.
since this is subjective, everyone's list is unique, and here is my list.
feel free to comment with your own selections, or even disagreements with my choices, though i'm not so much interesting in arguing the worth of a given movie as i am in seeing what the consensus for the best movies is.. i can't think of ten really great movies this year, but i can easily come up with the 5 best, in ascending order to number 1:.
Pat,
Same explanation. It was cleary more than just ordinary mental illness. The script makes it clear there was an alien involved.

Yes, it was a bad year for film. I normally can come up with 10 great movies, but this year it was hard.

Thanks for adding. I didn't see Enemy at the Gate, nor Vanilla Sky (though I might get around to seeing it, though I already know the story).
I agree with you about K-Pax. Most reviewers said it was written in such a way that the audience could never be sure if he was an alien or just crazy. I disagree. I think the screenplay made it crystal clear what he really was. How about you?
