CLAM Video - re Erich Frost (Apr 17-23 2017)
by Nicholaus Kopernicus ini normally don't bother going to the midweek jw meetings much.
however, upon reading in the april 2017 meeting workbook that there was to be a video about erich frost (former do for saxony & nazi prisoner in sachsenhausen concentration camp) i wanted to attend as i had read about this brother in history texts by detlef garbe and hans hesse.
i had also visited auschwitz several times and noted that the museum had a display / exhibition about jehovah's witnesses.

Of course there was a difference between Treblinka, Birkenau and Buchenwald. And being there was safer than in Hamburg or Dresden or Kursk. But If you ever had experiences Nazi rule, hunger as I have, and the reaction that your mind and body demands of you, you would never call those putting up with it, voluntarily, as collaborating cowards., not all of them anyway.

S: I would not judge the jws so easily and harshly. The whole extermination machinery was run/done by inmates, gas chambers, ovens, the sorting, breaking out of gold teeth, inmates, who were trading time alive against what you call collaborating. At least the witnesses could leave left, free, provided they promised to become nazis. No other category of KZ prisoners, certainly not the jews had that option. so. they might not have supported the coming overlapping generation, but were true martyrs.
PS and they struggled with the false wt doctrine of the Super Superior.- but non existing secular authorities ! Imagine being ready to give your life for a valid principle, but sensing that there is something wrong with the wt religion, doctrine?

I doubt that will happen, there are too many historical and ideological differences. But the over-riding reason is the cost of such a move. Some calculate the cost to be as much as three trillion dollars.
fts: So do I, but I am looking at a best outcome, like the reunification of Germany. Which financially and philosophically still is a project in progress. The trillions spend on this are peanuts compared to the cost of keep this people apart, fighting each other.
The west (UN) called the repelling of the NK invasion a "police action" . A truly all out effort, no holds barred conflict like ww2, would not have ended in a stalemate.
So, I wish the Korean people well, a peaceful future, what a waste to be ready to commit suicide over who is going to rule.

With this new unknown player elected, I am hoping for a development like what happened in the other important countries left divided after WW2, Germany and Vietnam (minus the tragedies of the French and American interventions there) What a great contribution Korea united could make to the world, without the power politics that mar this planet.
