  thank you, I am not a deep scholar, and the wt illustration with Peter scrambling out of the hole with the full moon rising in the east, reminded me of the palm fringed sight at memorial, but it struck me as odd, that the most important Christian holiday would not be enshrined in scripture from the very start. Glad that some of our chains are broken too , like Peter's.

  P.S. one would think with the big night so close, past or not, would at least merit a passing connecting reference? now "-- if I ruled the world--", inspired the bible---

  many of us have heard similar sentences from believers regarding proof of creator, proof that their religion is the correct one, proof that their particular sect is the right one, proof that their individual sects interpretation of a certain religious text is the right one, proof that their own personal interpretation of a certain religious text is the right one; the list goes on.. in one of my previous posts, i shared the following thought of mine:.

  It amazes me that someone who claims to have once been a JW is so poorly informed about the religion they say they once believed. NN:

  au contraire (mot du jour) , we are so well informed that we can pick the mess apart and show how flawed, and wrongly -based the wt doctrinal house of cards really is. and exposing it, in order to free followers from the illusion.

  with all the emphasis on hierarchical succession in that wt, , what ever happened to mentioning of the refreshing, liberating "rotating of positions" period, the time of great increase?

  Watchtower tried to make a connection with the Bible at the start of the rotation, but it was weak, SV:

  Yes, it was weak, the changing of the chairmanship in the first Governing Body between sessions did not imply an ongoing rotation in that body, but then there was no mention of an "appointment until death" to positions in the early, model congregations either.

  I merely wanted to point out how odd it is, that an arrangement, that would have served to broaden the base, and ferret out latent talent, would not be mentioned in a shake-up article like that.

  I always thought that the intent was to underline the notion that the rank-and-file witnesses were NOT in the New Covenant; merely hoping to benefit by proxy h:

  Wt hides the difference between the Kingdom and New Covenant. The new covenant is for forgetting/ forgiveness of sins, and it was even symbolised by the drinking of wine before there ever was a validation for the heavenly kingdom covenant at the anointing of the 120.

  You are absolutely right "underline the notion". There is always a big chasm in the talks with the unexplained jump from the anointed kingdom heir partakers to the fact that the New covenant is with all, not just the kingly/priestly*** class.

  A class act of wt obfuscation.

  *** In the model, the not so "new" Mosaic Covenant, the law covenant was with all, but there were separate covenants with the Judaic kings, and the Levitic priests. there was different covenants in the " type" too, the Old/New covenants were with all. drink, all of you.

  After that wt study, I mentioned the missing past rotating arrangement to an elder, as a subtle hint, that he should volunteer to be rotated out of the perennial position he holds, because his hoarse voice has so changed with age, that many can not understand what he is saying. , not that it makes a difference anyway.

  He was taken aback by the supporting fact, that the period of rotation was the most fruitful, and it's demise ushered in a real decline in membership. He did not want to put growth in the congregation, ahead of his perks.

  The rotational arrangement was wrong, S V.

  comment: It was wrong only from the standpoint of wt's goal to establish an iron-handed hierarchy. From the standpoint of the mag. studied, it would have broadened the base of skilled brothers with hands-on involvement but it exposed too many superfluous second rate holdouts., among other things.

  There is evidence in the bible that the 1st century christians kept the torah just as Jesus and the apostles did . my-e:

  There is an account of Peter being freed by an angel from prison on the Passover in Jerusalem, but when he met the brothers later that night, no mention of a memorial in progress then, just a year or two after the death of the messiah.
