i remember knowing some jws that expressed their own personal viewpoints regarding what a scripture meant that was at odds with society teachings.
in the 60 and 70’s, that was pretty much tolerated until the great purge in 1979 and 1980. as a matter of fact, it wasn’t unusual for witnesses to get together and discuss personal questions and viewpoints they might have.
it wasn’t unusual to send letters to the society asking what was considered the right or wrong view.
those who leave for the reason of 607 been wrong
j: that would be erudite nitpicking, but a good excuse to lead the good life.
even "Jesus" remarked about such ones" -says to himself: the lord is late in coming so---
most jws to day come from families that have a long, or short line of christian family members.
given that since christ, only 80 per year on average were deemed by wt to be true followers of him, worshipping the father, worthy of life, and there is, in wt's view, no redemption for those at variance with " the truth", .
do they realize that billions of sincere partakers are actually condemned by wt teachings?
They may not all agree on the details
PZ right, but it is on these doctrinal details that wt classifies almost all past believers (except ~ 80 per year) to be false worshippers deemed to be doomed at that, their time.
When 30 % of the population died in a medieval pandemics there was better reason than the 1914 overlapping generation groups to believe, that the end with apocalyptic horsemen was near. Millions died but only 80 made it to the wt resurrection in 1918.

no matter if Christian or not -- resurrected
B: yes, but we are looking here at the billions of "christian" adherers. would that with only ~80 per year really "true"wt type christians, that there was always an Earthly class? that
there at any given time always a majority condemned to gehenna had the return of the Messiah happened in their lifetime? of course,
had you lived in Europe in the Middle ages, and lived among the two factions, that would have been arelief.

it is wt policy to forbid elders to discuss any doctrinal details with the alleged apostate.so I dont know what it was about, but I said to the "brain" of the 3 of us afterward: This is going to be a "rasp" (a rough file). The man remained a gentle soul after his shunning, he was wise enough to not take it seriously.
There was ~ 60 years ago a prominent elder, that was an accredited minister to perform marriages on the loose, that was an apostate, his wife gave me a copy of the Schnell book. It did not make an impression on me then, before the "superior authorities" affair.
much has changed since then, even privately holding dissenting views is a disfellowshipping offence now, and not cooperating, and of course: "disrespecting" the managers/elders
so many changes in the 2013 nwt seem needless and spoil familiar phrases.
take isaiah 41:10 in the nwt classic rendering:.
do not be afraid, for i am with you.
I guess that like Paul remarking that the law made him aware of the finer points in sinning, so wt probably fears that suggesting to readers that there is such a thing as looking around (for better understandings) could lead jwa to realize how fragile their house of cards doctrinal beliefs are.
"gazing about" suggestd there is an avenue to really escape , rather than to just smother your fears.
according to the watchtower's insight encyclopedia : .
the catastrophic destruction of men and animals by an overwhelming flood in the days of noah, 2370 b.c.e.
this greatest cataclysm in all human history was sent by jehovah because wicked men had filled the earth with violence.
An angel of god, killed 184K Assyrians in one night.
EA: that was easy, no travel involved, no insights.
at passover in Egypt, one angel traveled from Ethiopia to Cairo, identified all the sleeping firstborn, and killed them. including dogs cats and cows, wow.

it should have floated above Mt Everest. In that height the air becomes thin,
EA: please correct that. when the waters lifted the ark, dung and all, it also lifted the atmosphere. with very nearly the same pressure at that new sea level.
It was the smell in the ark and of the floating bloated rotten corpses that was the problem, not the cold or lack of oxygen.
Food was simple, all passengers on the ark were vegetarians, until the door opened. plenty of carrion around then. but, please no blood.
Abel bsw, offered carrion on his altar too. the dogs and lions would not touch it.
