This is a mock interview with a fictional character who is a PR rep in an Australian comedy/parody of the public service. The show is called Utopia. This was a pro piece for thew start of the new season. The "NBA" is the fictional Govt department thew works in.
Questions for Rhonda, the Nation Building Authority's public relations guru.
When and why did you decide on a career in communications?
I realised I had a talent for making bold claims unsupported by evidence a few years back when working as a lobbyist for the multi-vitamin industry. Since then I've fallen in love with the time-honoured art of shaping a message, creating talking points, changing topic at will.
What kind of training was required?
I spent two years as chief of staff to a former state minister. My role was leaking cabinet documents and issuing denials – but it provided an excellent background.
What is the golden rule for a successful PR campaign?
Never treat the public as stupid. They are, of course, but you've got to at least look like you're taking them seriously.
What aspect of your work do you find most fulfilling?
Formulating policy and document shredding.
What have you learned in your time with the NBA?
Building infrastructure is too important to be left to engineers and economists. What's the point of a new toll-road if it doesn't have the right comms team to design its logo?
If you had to give NBA chief Tony Woodford one piece of advice, what would it be?
Don't speak until you've taken a moment to collect your thoughts, formulate an appropriate response. Then still don't speak.
Which NBA project do you believe will be of most benefit to the country?
The (soon-to-be-announced) Adelaide to Rockhampton Very Fast Train. It crosses 11 marginal electorates in less than half a day.
What goals have you yet to realise?
Alcohol-free weekdays are still proving a challenge.
What is your five-year plan?
I am currently working with the gambling industry on a campaign to have online betting ads classified as "community service announcements". I think we're close.

NWT - revised 1984 vs revised 2013 versions
by Tallon inin the latest 2013 revision the footnote of john chapter 8 states; a number of ancient and authoritative manuscripts omit vs 53 (of chapter 7) to chapter 8, vs. 11.. yet the 1984 revision quotes a similar footnote, however the passage of scripture is included in the text, albeit separately at the bottom.
this passage of scripture is about the scribes and the pharisees who brought a woman that was accused of adultery before jesus to test him on the punishment to be meted out.
then came his famous reply; let the one of you that is sinless be the first to throw a stone at her.. i just found it interesting that the wtbts would leave this out in the latest revision.

I think the second reference in Acts that was removed was for the same reason - it doesn't fit the model. That account (if you read the context) is referring to a small gathering for a meal on someone's home - it is not referring to a congregation meeting.

"Love for Jehovah should never be separated from the personal attachment that a couple have foreach other (Mt 22:37)"
What does that sentence even mean? Sounds creepy!

They are so good at double-speak aren't they.
The 2010 letter says, and I paraphrase, the Pioneer Assist Program has been such as success..... we're discontinuing it!!! Mmmm, don't you usually continue with or even expand something that is a success?
I distinctly remember those years serving as a pioneer Elder and never once being able to successfully implement the program. Every pairing we made never got really got started of fizzled out within a month or two. So when they say it has fulfilled its purpose - I don't think so. I think their other (vague) reason given is the true one - "for other practical reasons..."which are conveniently not specified.
And now here we are only 7 years later and they're re-introducing the program under a different (and perhaps less formal) guise. Perhaps they still remember the lesson form last time - to make it too formal an arrangement just doesn't work.

“More than material assistance, refugees need spiritual and emotional support. (Matt. 4:4) Elders can help by obtaining literature in the language of the refugees and by helping them contact brothers who speak their language. Many refugees have been torn away from their tight-knit extended families, communities, and congregations. They need to sense Jehovah’s love and compassion among their fellow Christians. Otherwise, they may be drawn to unbelieving relatives or compatriots who can relate to their culture and experiences. (1 Cor. 15:33) By making them feel fully accepted in the congregation, we have the privilege to share with Jehovah in “protecting the foreign residents.”—Ps. 146:9.”
Excerpt From: WATCHTOWER. “The Watchtower, May 2017.” iBooks.
“Like the neighborly Samaritan in Jesus’ illustration, we want to help suffering people, including those who are not Witnesses. (Luke 10:33-37) The best way to do so is by sharing the good news with them. “It is important to make clear right away that we are Jehovah’s Witnesses and that our primary mission is to help them spiritually, not materially,” notes an elder who has helped many refugees. “Otherwise, some may associate with us only for personal advantage.”
Excerpt From: WATCHTOWER. “The Watchtower, May 2017.” iBooks. So in todays' Watchtower, after citing the Good Samaritan parable, the chief lesson we learn from it is, it is our priority to help people SPIRITUALLY rather than MATERIALLY.
Maybe there is a new version of the NWT, but I don't recall reading that the Good Samaritan preached the good news to the robbed man???
Also note how they are to make sure their love bombing is sufficient to stop the refugees from being drawn to compassionate non-witnesses!
And how they can "share with Jehovah in protecting the foreign residents." I don't see Jehovah doing any protecting? If he was doing his share of protecting they would not be refugees in the first place, right?
