Worth a watch imho. Very enlightening and entertaining at the same time. It got me thinking:
We were always taught as witness how Christianity stole its stuff from paganism (Trinity, Xmas etc etc) but we were also taught that Satan always stole his stuff from Jehovah, that he made counterfeit versions of jehovah's stuff. Well it's clear that it is actually the other way around. As Seth well demonstrates with example after example, Christianity is adept at making a "Christian version" of just about everything Satan's system has come up with.
He makes the very good point that Christianity has only stayed relevant throughout its history be appropriating the culture of the secular societies in which it abides. And that is exactly what we see the the Society now doing too! The broadcasts are full of cultural appropriation, Christian versions of what young people enjoy - cartoons, music videos etc etc. It is the only way they can stay relevant and hope to stem the tide of a mass exodus of young ones.

@fulano Glad you agree. Zegna fabrics are my favourite!
If you have a look at the still picture from this video which is on Lloyd's twitter feed and is much clearer and from a different angle you can see how truly awful his suit is.

July Broadcast - Bible Teach book and Keep Yourselves In Gods Love book
by pale.emperor ini didn't manage to last the whole broadcast.
it was so unbelievably boring that i only managed halfway before i switched it off.
in this broadcast anthony morris iii (who i affectionately call "the don") stresses to us the importance of studying - not one - but two of their publications in order to understand the bible.

I had exactly the same thoughts pale.emperor. It takes TWO books for the indoctrination to stick!
I love how they claim to have worked out what the problem is with "some" (a great weasel word, they never specify exactly how many) - that they didn't study two books. Really. Did they do an actual survey? Did they interview all those inactive ones that have left and establish that was a common reason? Talk about just making stuff up again, not only as to the reasons for the fading, but also what they think will work to fix it - study more books.... yeah that will work. -

1) Evolutionist Professor Paul Davies admitted, “Nobody knows how a mixture of lifeless chemicals spontaneously organized themselves into the first living cell.”
2) Andrew Knoll, professor of biology, Harvard,Um, I could be wrong but I think Paul Davies is a physicist/cosmologist, and Andrew Knoll is a Professor of Natural History and a Professor of Earth and Planetary Sciences. Neither is an expert in evolutionary biology?

Hypocrisy of JW.org at this week's book study
by UnshackleTheChains ina paragraph taken from this week's study of 'gods kingdom rules.
15 jehovah’s people remain loyal to the messianic kingdom not only by refusing military service but also by respectfully declining to join in nationalistic ceremonies.
especially since the outbreak of world war ii, a wave of nationalistic fervor has swept the globe.
-
doubtfull1799
Mmmmm... nationalistic ceremonies... would that be like the recent one where the JW father got a Russian medal pinned to his chest (with a cross on it) in a nationalistic ceremony glorifying the fatherland?

How about a stuckinarut review? You could wear a Guy Fawkes mask in the video - like from the movie V for Vendetta -

Say what you will about their watches and rings, I have to say I don't think they wear expensive suits. Italian suits are a little foible of mine and I'm very familiar with them. Most of the suits I've seen on the GB (the ones where you can see close enough to see the fabric anyway) seem to be cheep fabrics and ill-fitting. You can see in the above photos of this suit how badly it its tailored and how badly it fits. Its all saggy and crumpled in all the wrong places.

Evolutionist on their deathbed.
by Nimble duck ini would really like to read the thoughts of an evolutionist as they lie on their deathbed.
their "honest to nogod" thoughts.
their terrors.

Are you an ex-JW Nimble Duck? You haven't introduced yourself and your story. Are you still a theist or deist since leaving? Or are you a creationist here to troll atheists?
You talk a lot about pseudoscience etc and critical thinking. I cannot speak for all the other atheists here, but I am an atheist now simply because I applied the same critical thinking to Watchtower pseudoscience and creationism as I did to the religion itself and its theological speculations. I also applied the same critical thinking to the hypothesis that the Bible is the inspired word of God. And I could come to no other conclusion that it is not. Therefore I could only conclude that there is no God, or that there is a Deist God - i.e., one who started the universe, but is now absent from it.

It doesn't change reality. I can't stand the idea of ceasing to exist, the thought that life will go on without me. Wishing it to be otherwise unfortunately does not make it so, and is not evidence that there is an afterlife. I'm sure on my deathbed, when facing the reality of my mortality mores than now, I will wish that it didn't have to be that way, that I could live on in another realm. But again, it will make no difference to reality.
