I am still keeping an objective perspective on this exchange, but I do wish to say one side provide arguments, and the other side responds with ridicule and an appeal to authority; regardless of who is right, one side is clearly being more "scientific".

You should trust the experts because they are, experts...
yah right.
elders are experts... don't trust them at all.
I say: Use your critical faculties.
Fact is if NASA lies about satellite images, what else might they lie about... or "fix".
Who knows what happens to all that temperature data?

Lots of things are 'doctored' before being released to the 'masses'. It's known as targeting the audience and applies to everything we do, not just science.
yah, but suggest this is what they are doing to the so-called "climate science" and watch peoples heads explode...
This is why I don't trust "experts" anymore.

The question about how the earth can keep a hold on air is a good one. Quite frankly, we can all post various answers, but it will all be mumbo-jumbo us mortals have to take on faith. I think it is reasonable to question such explanations.

I won't take sides on this one; I think the discussion is interesting in itself.

I think man walked on the moon, but quite frankly I would not be surprised some dumbass decided to fix a few of the photos to get them to look perfect and that's why we got all the controversy.
