it has always struck me that wt is so very short-sighted in many things.
often, they are very re-active, and not so much pro-active in their reasoning and the way they plan for the future.. just thinking today, and have kicked this one around for a while now.. is the watchtower organization truly sustainable?
is a new monetary structure on the horizon?
Most of these elites are pretty old by now, at least in their 40s if not 50s or 60s, they don't need to worry about 20 years down the line they'll be dead by then.
@john.prestor, Good grief man...How old are you? People in their 40s don't qualify as "pretty old". And nowadays, with advancements in medicine and healthcare, even people in their 60s will most likely still be active and in fairly good health 20 years from now. Look at Betty White. Are you a teenager?
i'm not sure why this memory popped up, and i was wondering if any others, when they were still active jw had dealings with a pyramid scheme involving other witnesses in the organization?
at the time it was 1993, and my husband and i were still newlyweds.

This Melaleuca stuff is crazy. I get a very strong Scientology vibe from it. I wonder what happens if you try to leave them. Just listen to the way these people talk. They're obviously brainwashed.
i know many members on this forum no longer believe in the christian god of the bible.
and we should all be respectful of each other's beliefs.
no one should be vilified for not believing or vice-versa.. though we all share one thing in common and that's falling victims to the vermin governing idiots.. going back thousands of years, our planet has experienced strange occurrences with many falling under the paranormal umbrella.

@sir82 Don't forget about how they nitpick people to death over cart witnessing. I'm talking about that special form they have that determines whether or not you qualify for this sacred privilege. I don't understand how someone can qualify for door-to-door preaching, but somehow that same person isn't worthy of sitting next to a cart. If they start focusing more on the carts, they'll have to stop being so strict about it.

I stopped keeping up with my time long ago, even before I woke up. I used to feel so guilty about it, but after learning TTATT I couldn't care less. I do as little as possible, and a rainy Saturday morning must be what Christmas feels like. I don't care how much I actually do, I'm reporting double digits just as sure as water is wet. And I try not to talk about the literature with people, I just hand it to them and talk about something else.

They said it was mentioned in the references, but I still disagree with the placement of this particular subject in the previous manual. I understand that their might be certain circumstances to consider, but to put suicide in the same category as manslaughter and sex is just irresponsible.

and the scene is not so brief, giving a clear glimpse of his private parts.
it is a very graphic scene.
Well you see, this scene represents the fact that we as a society are doomed to repeat the mistakes of our forefathers, endlessly toiling our lives away until we inevitably fall victim to the human condition. Of course this scene was necessary. When you really stop and think about it, aren't we all just naked men waving a sword around?

Thanks. I didn't want to take a chance with downloading any files to my computer. When I looked at the old manual and saw that they put attempted suicide right in between manslaughter and porneia, it really turned my stomach. Even if they say that in most cases a judicial hearing is not required, why even put it in that category? It should've been in a completely different chapter. Things like that show us just how clueless those idiots are.

Nothing that Watchtower does surprises me anymore. It just blows my mind that people are not able to see through this garbage. To cease with the reporting of time is the perfect way to get the sheeple thinking that the great tribulation has started. It might be a part of that whole, "Do what we say even if it doesn't make sense strategically..." nonsense. Next thing you know they'll be stopping the memorial.
