FUCK YOU
in reading these posts, it sounds like a lot of you are very jealous of the wt.
society’s annual income and the money they/we have in the bank.
jehovah has indeed blessed us.

i know there have been many many posts on here over the years on the deity of jesus.. i am submitting this one because i am feeling a little confused.. the thing is, i am not the sharpest knife in the drawer and i know this.
so when i am going through my bible reading (to all you haters, yes i still do it) i see so many scriptures that just fly in the face of everything the jws teach about jesus.. i begin to wonder if indeed i am diseased in the mind ,as they will try to paint me, because it seems so plain to me.. i never even gave it a though growing up as to if jesus and god were equal.
i just didn't.. now when i read scriptures like philippians 9.... 9 for this very reason, god exalted him to a superior position+ and kindly gave him the name that is above every other name,+ 10 so that in the name of jesus every knee should bend—of those in heaven and those on earth and those under the ground+— 11 and every tongue should openly acknowledge that jesus christ is lord+ to the glory of god the father.. .
About a year old I got into the concept of Jesus in the old testament. I never really thought of Jesus in the old testament. I actually watched a debate between a former Muslim named Sam Shamoon ( I think I spelled it right ) and Islamic cleric. It kind of turned me on to researching the idea. Its all on youtube.
When you really dig into the guts of the old testament and see all the weird stuff like god speaking to god or god is invisible but he appears in physical manifestion . Its really hard to describe and I don't claim to be an expert on the subject but there is a lot more going on than the WTS would like us to believe.
Once you start understanding this stuff and I am not too sure if it can fully be understood by finite human brains, and what is being referenced in the new testament, it really is kind of cool. If anything it really shows you the dishonestly of the nwt.
i went to meeting today and the sister in front of me was upset song 134 now song 139 no longer contains jehovahs name.
they took it out.
i never even noticed .
I have an uncle who is a pastor in a prison. It's a pretty sweet gig cause he is actually a federal employee complete with pension and benefits.
All he had to do was spend nine years in university and bible school.
It just laughable that people think saying the word jehovah is what Christianity is all about.

you loved righteousness, and you hated lawlessness.
And what exactly is your opinion about this specific cross reference between John and psalms?
i was baptized when i was 14 years old.
i hadn't had any real relationship with a girl up to that point.
but when i started going to high school i learnt the joys of experimenting with girls, so i did not stay a faithful member of the congregation for long.
I knew my wife was called in for a few of those meeting when we were dating because I wasn't officially baptized and man I know there was lots of questions of a perverted nature asked. Still kind of pisses me off.
I would love to walk to the head bully elder who organized the meetings and ask if he could snap of a picture of his wives tits and send them to me. Maybe we could get a few elders together later and have a circle jerk over it.
Oh, you don't think that kind of talk is acceptable ? But you corner my wife and ask dirty questions ?
10 years later I still want to kick that guys ass.

I started this thread with a specific cross reference about an anomaly in the nwt hoping to have some theological discussion about things like authors intent and general dishonestly from the watchtower and tract society. When you are a jw it is really quite shocking how they don't teach or avoid the connections between the old and new testament.
What I got in return was mockery, ridicule , sweeping generalizations about the bible ( its all bullshit man ). I have to say it really quite disappointing, especially for those who left for theological reasons.

If I took my car to the mechanic and he asked him what was wrong and he told me all Fords are crap, it wouldn't really be helping me figure out what was really wrong with my car.
I really don't think atheist /agnostic replies to specific theologic questions is very helpful . I didn't find Smiddy comment that insightful.
Its sad to see ex jws are just as lazy about the bible as when they were in.

Wow
This is highly depressing.
A major part of my awakening process was seeing how the new testament was basically just quoting the old testament and seeing the context of the quotes.
It also exposes how dishonest the nwt is when you see the connections.
The point is Jesus is being quoted as jehovah in the old testament . I wasn't making a sweeping generalization about Christian sects or how anyone can make the bible says anything etc etc.

Maybe if someone a few generations back would have read the fucking the bible or understood it, we wouldn't all be hanging out here wondering how to get our families back.
Real class act

But about the Son, he says: “God is your throne+ forever and ever, and the scepter of your Kingdom is the scepter of uprightness
You loved righteousness, and you hated lawlessness. That is why God, your God, anointed you+ with the oil of exultation more than your companions.”+ 10 And: “At the beginning, O Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the works of your hands. 11 They will perish, but you will remain; and just like a garment, they will all wear out, 12 and you will wrap them up just as a cloak, as a garment, and they will be changed. But you are the same, and your years will never come to an end.”+
Psalms 102 26-27
Long ago you laid the foundations of the earth, And the heavens are the work of your hands.+ 26 They will perish, but you will remain;Just like a garment they will all wear out. Just like clothing you will replace them, and they will pass away. 27 But you are the same, and your years will never end.+
All quotes taken from the NWT
The part I find odd is when you read the rest of the passage and see the cross reference back to psalms , which seems to the father speaking to Jehovah god. If you feel like reading Psalm 102, it is speaking about Jehovah God, LORD, Yaweh , whatever you want to call him.
Now the average JW has a real problem with the father speaking to the son as god speaking to god ( thus the need for the NWT ), yet they never seemed to read the rest of the chapter. Its just funny how the theology is based on isolation and obscuring of single verses.
Not saying I am joe Jesus or pushing any agenda. I am just saying it is funny when a person does a little research on the scriptures , its pretty easy to see the authors intent.
You can't see the forest because of all the trees.
