30 going on 17, when I'm feeling good.
But most of the time, nowadays, I feel more like 30 going on 90 .
At any rate, I'm 30.

anyone have any pet peeves they'd like to air?
here's one that just happened at work that is an annoyance for me: when you are speaking and the person interrupts the conversation with a corny play on words or the like.
for example, "i had to sit on the phone on hold for about 5 minutes, waiting .
People who tailgate me when I take my time (ever heard of passing??) and folks who give me a dirty look when I take up the entire eisle at the grocery store...get a life...(I'm joking)...
Seriously though, I hate it when you have one item and you are standing in (a long) line at the store and someone opens up another register...and before you are able to make it to them, the person behind you, who just happens to have a buggy load of stuff gets to them first and doesn't even offer to let you (with your one little item) go...argh.

christians who believe in the bible and the teachings of christ use that as a moral core and code of conduct.
for those who don't believe in god, where do you get your sense of moral right and wrong?
what is your moral foundation?
when i was replying to nicolas' question in another thread, i used the following scripture to show why jws are always so tired:"the scribes and the pharisees have seated themselves in the seat of moses.
therefore all the things they tell you, do and observe, but do not do according to their deeds, for they say but do not perform.
they bind up heavy loads and put them upon the shoulders of men, but they themselves are not willing to budge them with their finger.
I'm oh so thankful that I never graduated to that stage. I do, however, have a huge floral "beach bag" that I carried back when I went to the meetings (just a couple of mos ago). Now, my husband carries it. Just imagine. I wonder if when he's baptized if he'll be counceled for carrying a "girlie" bag.
I used to want a big bag with lots of compartments (you know, one compartment for books, one for mags, and one paper and pens). Ah, the dreams of a faithful dub.

honestly, i read the first paragraph and burst out laughing.
do they not have a clue that this applies to their own followers??.
i've included the first article, and am mid-way through transcribing the second one, which i'll finish tomorrow when i come home from work.. feel free to comment too!.
Thanks for sharing this article, Skully.
This post reminds me of an article that we recently studied (my hub and I are householders) during our weekly "bible" study. It was in the Dec 15,2001 issue of the WatchTower, The Real Jesus: Who was he?. The article was Learn From Me (pgs 15-20). I couldn't even begin to point out the applications that could be made to the WTS in this article...
The entire time we studied this article, I'm sitting there thinking the description of the Pharisees sound just like the JWs. Here's a paragraph from that article. For those who have this issue it is well worth the read...
para 11:
From a study of Biblical and secular evidence, we can conclude that the Pharisees thought highly of themselves as guardians of the public good and welfare. They were not satisfied that God's Law was fundamentally clear and easily understood. Wherever the Law seemed to them to be unspecific, they sought to plug apparent gaps with defined applications to eliminate any need fro conscience. These religious leaders attempted to devise a precept to govern conduct in all issues, even trivialities.

the following is taken from questions from readers p.31 of the my 1, 2002 watchtower.
it is the wt response to the question: "when john saw the "great crowd" rendering sacred service in jehovah's temple, in which part of the temple were they doing this?".
quote.
i've been thinking about this for sometime now and i wanted to know how other people felt about this comparison.
the pharisees were known for hypocrisy and for also promoting traditions of men and other non-bibical teachings.
when we look at the wtbs in light of the actions of the pharisees there are some amazing similarities.
just a few things in the account that don't make sense and lead me to believe it's just a made of story (really?
a guy with superhuman power?
who would have thought... ).
thought this might be interesting to both religous and non-religous types.. perhaps leaving out revalation might be a good idea.....you know why, but if you've got one from there, go right ahead and post it.. mine is a popular one:.
isaiah 2:4, revised standard version.
"he shall judge between the nations, and shall decide for many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into plowshears, and spear into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.".
