Scriptures JWs Would Prefer to Ignore
by Room 215 inhere are my nominations for scripture jws would like to see go away.
in all cases they're reduced to the ``yes, but'' defense; i.e.
john 14:2-- ``in my father's house are many mansions.".

Most unintentionally funny scene in a movie
by Abaddon inin the original superman, where superman sticks the flag back on top the white house, and says "i stand for truth, justice, and the american way"; this never failed (the couple of times i saw it in the cinema as a kid) to reduce the audiences to tears of laughter (in enlgand).. in the blair witch project, where she's doing the "i'm sorry" bit in the super-big-close-up nostril shot; hilarious.. the bit in jurassic park where the lawyer gets eaten; the audience i was with cheered.... .

Mister Biggs...I am so there with you. I don't know what it is about someone dying in a movie but it just cracks me up. I watched Vertigo not to long ago and I almost busted a gut when James Stewart is standing in the tower and you get to see (out the window) the woman's body falling and hear her screaming. I laughed so hard I cried.
Another thing is cheesy love scenes. They say some of the dumbest things that no one ever says in real life. Rebecca was so thick with it. But I'm sure it was very appropriate for it's time. I imagine women were a lot like her character...back in those days. Sometimes I just wanted to slap her because she was so...silly.
In Firelight, there is a scene where Sophie Marceau is speaking out loud as she is writing...I almost died!! I mean, who does that? I guess you have to see the expression on her face while she is speaking to appreciate the humour of it.

Oh, what about C.E. and B.C.E. instead of A.D. and B.C.?
It's funny someone should mention this. The FIRST time I had EVER heard these terms were from their lit (yes, I've been a hermit for quite some time now).
I had even gotten into a discussion with these true christians about how "society" (not to be confused with the society) try to take Christ's name out of everything. And how now the term "B.C.E" is used instead of "B.C."
The sister obviously (seriously) didn't know that people had even used B.C. as meaning Before Christ. I had to show it to her in the dictionary. I can't remember what she thought it was an acronym for.
I have since read the terms B.C.E. and C.E. in others things but honestly the first time (which is odd especially considering the above conversation) I had ever seen these was in (I think) the Knowledge that Leads to Everlasting Life book.
God's true organization...using the method of removing Christ's name from the timeline...hmmm, makes one wonder.

Did adam have nipples or a belly button?
by edster incan some one please tell me.
do men have one less rib bone than women?
why?
-
sadiejive
Hi Edster,
Women and men both have the same number of ribs. Assuming the story of Adam is true, then it wouldn't make sense for Adam to have had a belly button. Why would you wonder if he had nipples? Why wouldn't he? Nipples have never really served any purpose for a man except for decor (stimuli perhaps)...or at least none of which I know. Does anyone else know? Have men ever breastfed??? Does anyone know of any biblical accounts where men were breast feeding? How about historical?... A more appropriate question would be, why do men have nipples anyway?? Does anyone know?
Anyways, those are just my opinions...and you know what they say about opinions...sadie

Oh...I found one with both of them in it....
Aren't they the cutest?
Canaan (my son) just turned six and Lily (my daughter) turns 4 in May. I have to "inspect" my son when he is through bathing too. He showers sometimes but he is still kinda small...and he prefers the tub. We only resort to the shower when we are in a hurry (no toys, no fun...straight to business).
Why is it they have such a hard time getting all the shampoo out of their hair? I know my son rinses his hair over and over...and even does the under water, head dunking thing and that stuff still manages to stay in there sometimes. Sometimes I don't catch this until the next day and I wet his hair to get it to lay down (does anyone else have this bed head prob??...lol) and his hair goes all soapy. Oh well. Kids are such fun!!

Because she has broken my trust by witnessing to my kids behind my back, I need to be carefull not to give her additonal opportunities to do that. Oh yeah, my kids are 12 and 7.
Kist,What I did with my mom, after getting over being really pi$$ed off because she didn't submit to my will (typical JW mindset...lol), was I compromised. My kids quit sleeping over and she came over to my house or I went to hers once or twice a week just so the kids could see her and spend time with her. This, of course, was supervised (couldn't let her sneak in any of those demonic videos...lol). Or I would meet her at the park and go for lunch with her. The kids enjoyed that.
I am so thankful that I got my head out of the box. I have an even stronger relationship with my mom. I think she sees me as like the prodigal daughter, now...lol. If you are prayer then pray for your mom and study, study, study her religion...and yours. But I would try to avoid talking about it...but if your mom is like the average dub, she won't be able to contain it. She will have to talk about it. Know your stuff and how to make her think about what she says to you. Is your mom aware of WTS history? Just curious. A lot of "newbies" are not. The only reason I found out anything about them was because I'm on the internet...and I looked for stuff.
I wish you the best. It is a toughie...but I wouldn't break my kids off from seeing her entirely. She could turn that against you later on ("oh, I wanted to see you kids but your mom wouldn't let me"...that kind of thing). Good luck to you. If you need someone to talk to, feel free to email me.

Ahhhh, Mommy...he is so cute!! How old is he now?
It's definately NOT a boy thing. My son loves baths...my daughter has to be forced to take a bath. She hates them. I have to bribe her by telling her she can wear her bathing suit and swim around in it for a while...or play like it's a hot tub (yes, my 3 yr old LOVES hot tubs). So, 9 times out of 10, I have to peel off bathing suit in order to bathe my daughter.
Flower, your son is soooo adorable. What's his name?
I have some pics of my daughter (I don't have any of my son on disc) but I haven't found a site yet that I can post them on and be able to see on here.
Where are you guys putting your pics? Is it free?
