That level of engagement with a worldly charity is certainly not the norm amongst witnesses.

JWs do Volunteer To Help Worldly Organizations Distribute Food to the Needy
by Athanasius insome months back i posted a topic asking if jws were now encouraged to volunteer their time for charitable organizations, as one of the volunteers who i work with was promoting jw.org to one of the spanish speaking workers.
because of that, i guessed that he was a jw.. https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/5708790489939968/jws-now-encouraged-volunteer.
well the other day as he and i were folding and stacking tables after distributing food to the needy, i mentioned that after i retired i got bored and decided to do volunteer work.

Another brother steps back
by konceptual99 inso at the meeting this week it was announced that a certain brother was no longer serving as a ministerial servant.. this is a guy who was brought up in a different country as his family went to serve where the need was greater.

@Freddo...
Did he sit through the announcement?
Yes - he was doing the sound.
@Pete Zahut
Ha...that's so true and it's encouraged that single JW women seek out single JW men with positions in the congregation. Perhaps he was privately reproved for something, hence the tears. Either way, any move backwards, planned or otherwise, is a big deal in JW land.
Given he was doing the sound I think a private reproof for anything of note is unlikely. Knowing the guy I think there is more to it but I am quietly confident that it's more down to his relationship with the WTS. Don't forget that these days you really have to work at not being an MS or Elder anymore. If you say you are tired they will lower your responsibilities for a bit rather than see you leave. This is a congregation with only one out of around 5 or 6 young men making any attempt to "reach out". I am sure that they would have done anything to keep him on board.
I think the tears are her regretting his decision. I know my wife didn't want me to step down and I know she's not a WT wife careerist. She knew that it was the one thing that was keeping me engaged with spiritual activity. She knew I had doubts and knew that if I stepped down then I would not have the incentive to push through my malaise. I think his wife crying could well be partly the same and, knowing her, I think she knows this is the death of his progress within the WT career ladder.
One thing I have noted is that he rarely answered. I keep an eye out for this as for any appointed man I think it's a real marker of where they are. Keen as mustard young men and servants have their mitts up all the time. When an appointed man never answers then you know something is up.
This is a guy who has really pushed himself in da troof since his mid teens. When someone like that lowers their profile I think you are looking at yet more apathy. If he has been a naughty boy then he will be working to get back in the elder good books. If he is disengaged with the whole thing then expect him to do less and less and less.

if it has cleared the first tick "uploading post" can you safely click away from the page?.

No. Read what I've already explained (in plenty of detail).
Ignoring it, being impatient and creating work is not appreciated.A problem posting for 30 mins or even a hour is one thing but the thing is sitting there for hours and hours and hours.
As I said, I would like to improve the communication so that it tells you how long it's likely to take and you can see the status in the queue, if there are any issues etc... I think lack of feedback on where things are up to is what confuses most people so we can definitely improve that.
That would make a big difference.

So at the meeting this week it was announced that a certain brother was no longer serving as a ministerial servant.
This is a guy who was brought up in a different country as his family went to serve where the need was greater. This is a guy who was home schooled and went straight into pioneering. He then went and worked on building projects in various places in Europe and Africa. He got married and went on international build work. Until his kids came along and put a stop to the international work he was on the track for being a real golden example of JW youth forging a WT career.
Even though the guy is still relatively young (late 20s) I have been a bit surprised he's never been one of those uber young elders but I've also noticed that he seems to have a certain edge to him, a slight desire not to toe the line.
So, it was announced he was no longer serving as an MS. I was surprised but also able to afford a wry smile. The word is he wants a break from things but I think there is more to it. His wife was crying after the announcement, no doubt shamed at the step down and lamenting that she no longer can live her WT goals vicariously anymore.
I wonder if there is more to the situation. Perhaps his lack of tolerance for some of the idiocy of WT drone culture got the better of him. Perhaps he laid into one of the elders for their hypocrisy and was pushed. I wonder if he has woken up and is in the same place I was about three years ago.
I spoke to him a while ago and was open with him that I got fed up at feeling I had to justify myself all the time, fed up doing things just to be seen doing them. I told him I got fed up playing the game and was just happy to let the elders play it with other people.
I hope I get a chance to speak to him again soon. I hope he's got fed up playing the game. Even if he hasn't there are plenty of young men in congregations all over the place stepping back, stepping down, closing in.
Anything but reaching out.

So neither of my attempts to post from 4 am and 9 am this morning (it's now 6 pm) have appeared. What do I do? Keep trying until one does work?
Sounds to me like this is a problem beyond what you are talking about above Simon.

It's about a capable young man stepping down as an MS.
You may get to see it twice but even the duplicate is queuing.

So five hours later it's still queued. I tried again. It's still queuing. er... you may have a duplicate when it eventually allows me to post a topic. I'd not even posted much. The limit seems really low. How do I know if I will have a problem posting? -

Got a new topic sitting there purring away queuing right now.
Do I trash it and start again or leave it to do it's stuff?
Either way it's a PITA as it's 4 am and I want to go to bed.

How to Fade - The Basics!
by The Searcher inthis really works.
i've already applied the basics of this with one elder who "offered" us a shepherding visit.
we've been totally ignored since!!!

I agree with this 100%. They can only do something when you have given them something. Give them nothing and there is nothing they can do. Most elders simply don't have the time or inclination to try and tease your inner feelings out of you. Whilst they love a witch-hunt, many can't be bothered to create trouble if there is none. They just want to be able to tick a box that they tried when the CO asks them why so and so is now inactive.
