FDS & G.B. TEACHING DESTROYED
by The Searcher incredit to vidqun for the direction given.. the watchtower november 15th qfr http://www.jw.org/en/publications/magazines/w20141115/ blows the selection process/timing/individuals clean out of the water!.
simply put, ask any witness these questions:.
who is represented by the 'two witnesses' in revelation chapter 7?

Preaching is a waste of time
by konceptual99 inbefore anyone gives me the "bears/wood" similarities, this is a post based on insidethekh's reply on the mormon v jw thread.
(http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/287545/1/who-is-copying-who-jws-or-mormons) i like to see wt friendly posts on here as some of the wt bashing displays the same logical fallacies as levelled against the wts and it's followers so it's good to consider reasoned debate.. on the one hand i think itkh makes a fair point if you compare the worldwide success of mormons v jws but there is an overall context to the preaching work that is completely ignored by those fully "in" and has been a major factor in my move from being an active witness to one on the cusp of getting out.
from a statistical point of view there are great headline numbers presented by the wts but if you put them in the context of the number of witnesses, conversation ratios, ratio of new witnesses to birth rates, numbers that must be leaving, growth differentials across the globe, penetration in muslim nations and so on then these numbers become meaningless.

This reluctance to address the basic questions on the effectiveness of the preaching work is telling...

Sadly Steve, aside from arguing that Witnesses are more successful than Mormons globally, ITKH is not defending the WTS. I am still waiting for a reasonable rebuttal of my statements about the pointlessness of the preaching work.

the debate.
for decades there has been a long standing debate between science and religion as to the validity of the biblical genesis account of creation.

Spot on Vidiot. Once I gave myself the intellectual permission to disagree with the WTS doctrine on Genesis everything else came crashing down like the proverbial house of cards. Asking "what if the WTS is wrong on creation" and then being able to accept the evidence that they are is the one of the hardest things I have ever done. For years I read material and watched programs discussing anthropological, biological, physical, chemical and geologic evidence that flies in the face of old earth creationism but found ways of rationalising, compartmentalising and dismissing it. Eventually it became too overwhelming to ignore.
No wonder the GB s**t themselves over education.

I need an answer from an Elder or someone who knows!
by Truth and Justice inmy brother after so many years decides to call me.
i am totally surprised.
i didn't know what to think.. so i began to open up by saying "hey ______, what a surprise!

I assume you are disfellowshipped and surprised at the contact. There has been no softening of the rules on contact, if anything the admonition to keep contact with disfellowshipped family to an absolute minimum has been reinforced over the past couple of years.
I would guess your brother just wants to say hi and is proving blood is thicker than the edicts of the WTS.

As interesting as the my dad is harder than your dad argument is, I note that no one has suggested that the preaching work undertaken by Witnesses is productive and a meaningful presentation of the Kingdom message that Witnesses claim to have sole custody of at a time they proport is do or die for mankind.

I stood down as an MS in May 2013. Since then I have had one visit from the Mormons. That's one more uninvited visit from someone to enquire about my spirituality than from the elders in my hall. To be fair they have done one shepherding call but I've hardly been inundated with friendly calls to "encourage" me.
At least my brothers and sisters are putting the time in babysitting a cart.

Fair enough. People are not interested. Aside from the fact this makes it even more pointless, what is the logical conclusion about the fate of those who do not listen? If they are all to be destroyed then God's justice is called into question. If they stand a very good chance of getting through thanks to Jehovah's compassion then what's the point of preaching?
If you want to bring up the story of Noah as an example then all that shows is that God was happy to drown innocents. I recall the Bible Story Book picture of the mother with a babe in arms for example. All that means is all but a handful of the worlds population will survive, the vast majority never even reached with a meaningful message let alone able to make an informed choice.
ITKH - where do you really stand on this?

Chris, I've joined this a bit late but wanted to throw my hat into the ring. For a long time, particuarly before I fully woke up to TTATT, I was very much like you - looking to synchronise the first part of Genesis with everything that my (kind of) open mind could see science was demonstrating about the universe, development of life and humankind. Frankly, I could not square it and as I woke up and read books like The Greatest Show on Earth, Your Inner Fish and Why Evolution is True I simply had to accept that Genesis could not be made to fit with what we know about the history of the Earth and life on it.
Once I realised that I could not believe how quickly I deconstructed the rest of the theology.
