That's a bank holiday weekend. I would love to say hello but will be unable to get to London those days. It's also the zone visit and I will have to endure a three hour drone session on Saturday. -

AGREE? or DISAGREE? Popular Music

"from 1955 till present, popular music has declined to the point where it is now consistently "stupid" and homogenous.

If you watch the video it's clear that the guy is not making a generalised statement about all contemporary music. He is making a statement about much of the production line chart filling dross that comes and goes with each week.
As someone who listens to a lot of new and emerging music I know there is a wealth of fantastic stuff out there that is relevant and has artistic merit. Every age has the same and you've always had to wade through crap to find the gold.
I hate the idea that the only music with any merit, the best stuff ever created just happens to be the music you liked in your teens and twenties. It's as stupid an idea as saying the religion one is born into has to be the only true one.
I agree with much of what the guy has to say but that is not the same as saying that all new music is crap.

Ask one of your elders to explain it. Then ask him to explain it using the Bible.
I bet few of them will be able to the former off the top of their head. As for the latter, it's not possible.

Muslim Shopkeeper Murdered for Wishing Friends a Happy Easter on Twitter
by cofty inhorrible crime in glasgow on thursday evening when a well loved muslim shop keeper asad shah was stabbed to death by at least one other muslim man.
mohammad faisal, a family friend, said a bearded muslim wearing a long religious robe entered mr shah’s shop and spoke to him in his native language before stabbing him in the head with a kitchen knife.. mr shah had posted the twitter message ‘good friday and a very happy easter, especially to my beloved christian nation’.
residents of shawlands in glasgow say he was well respected and had been known to hand out christmas cards to neighbours despite being of a different faith.. hundreds have turned out in a vigil near the crime scene....

I think the transposition is fair enough in terms of the possibility of the Bible being used to justify all sorts of heinous acts, even if you allow for some difference between the overall tone of the NT v the OT.
I would also say that there obviously individual Muslims that have no truck with any sort of violence and do have a live and let live attitude. The problem is that these seem to have very little voice.
It's not really about "not real Muslims/Christians" though. What is so difficult about the spiritual leaders of the Muslim people of Scotland and Glasgow being able to join with others in a visible act of condemnation? What is it about the general cultural that means individuals and leadership are not empowered to raise a voice for tolerance and anti-extremism.
Christianity has a torrid history when it comes to persecution, white elitism, violence and extremism. Thankfully this is (a) pretty much a thing of the past and (b) widely condemned when it does happen. Why?
Because most "Christians" couldn't care less what other people do so long as it does not hurt anyone else, regardless of what their interpretation of the Bible might have to say about it.

UK: Would anyone like to attend Frank Otuo's next hearing against the Watchtower? Or send him your support?
by defender of truth inwww.standard.co.uk/news/jehovahs-witness-sues-for-150000-after-church-snubbed-him-over-fraud-claims-9750062.htmlfrank otuo is suing the watchtower for disfellowshipping him and causing the loss of his family and his friends, after being disfellowshipped based on a false accusation of fraud.on friday may 13th 2016, a hearing will take place to decide whether the watchtower's defence will be thrown out.otuo is confident that it will be.
;)would anyone like to be there on the day, to see what happens and maybe even report back and tell us what you saw?.
otuo would like it if some people could be there to cheer him on, as it were.

Not sure I understand the above, especially the first long sentence in parentheses.
Are you saying the Witness that was a creditor was another person ("Bill") and that Bill made the accusation which was then processed by Morley? In other words Morley has nothing to do with the business transaction and is just acting as a back stabbing elder to rid the congregation of Otuo.

Just throwing back to some comments I made on another thread the other day as they relate directly to this....
In this country there is insufficient evidence of a real ground swell of opinion amongst Muslims that marginalises any form of extremism. This might be a problem of reporting in the mainstream media but I am no convinced this is that case.
....
The same is true with Islam. I commend any Muslim who speaks out against violence and intolerance but there is very little evidence of a small majority, let alone a vast majority, of Muslims in this country being prepared to take a stand that puts them in direct opposition to the core tenets of their religion. If they did they would become apostates - precisely the justification for Asad Shah's murder. -

There we go. One of the few sects of Islam that actually could be tolerant gets bugger all support from the more mainstream Muslims when asked to make a public stand against the worst extremism and violence. -

So if I understand you correctly @akromo....
- Morley lent money to a business owned by Otuo and another Witness ("Fred").
- The money was lent with a clear business agreement at 8%. Presumably Morley would have been aware of the risk he might lose his money and this was allowed for in the contract.
- Otuo sold his shares in the business to Fred with the agreement that creditors including Morley would be paid.
- Fred refuses to pay back creditors including Morley.
- Otuo sues Fred for breach of contract (namely the agreement made when the shares were sold)
- Fred pays Morley back in full.
- Morley accuses Otuo of fraud, takes it to the elders and the elders DF Otuo.
- Bugger all happens to Fred
Have I got it correct?

Sanderson Patronises Ex-Bethelites

mark sanderson: accept change with faith and confidence (heb.
basically sanderson is giving a pep talk to all those that have new assignments changed.

Not to mention the increasing use of temporary/commuter bethel labour. This has the double bubble win for the WTS as (a) each one pays their own way and (b) the faithful jump at the chance to have this type of "privilege". -

Mark Sanderson: Accept Change With Faith and Confidence (Heb. 13:17)
Basically Sanderson is giving a pep talk to all those that have new assignments changed. He uses all the normal examples of Moses, Abraham, Jesus and then his own example of being asked to start a new assignment on Monday morning by the GB on the Friday afternoon.
This is all well and good but he is forgetting one thing. Most of the Bethelites that have had their assignments changed actually have had them stopped. They have lost their jobs. They have been told to make it as pioneers if they can. Special pioneers have had their stipends removed and been demoted. DOs and those over 70 have been sidelined and told to get on with it.
His new assignment involved him jetting off to the Philippines for a few years then coming back to be graced with the top job. He didn't have to try and find work after being institutionalised for decades. He wasn't told that he was entering in to the best career into the world only to be tossed aside at a moments notice with less workers rights than an illegal immigrant.
I really hope there are ex-Bethelites the world over watching this and sticking their fingers up to this patronising nonsense.
