Hello, I'm new here too!
by redpilltwice inhi everybody, 1st post here.
20 years jw, elder for 6 years, regular pioneer for 3 years, have always been following the 2012 candace conti abuse case with much interest, especially since the case suddenly disappeared from www.watchtower.com's news section (thanks brother j. r. brown, office of public information, because it led me to "worldly" websites for more info), leading to more and more dissatisfaction , leading to jwfacts, jwsurvey, ad1914, wtdocuments etc., leading to my awakening about 4 months ago, now fading faster and faster to zero meetings and zero field service...and you know what?
it feels good!.

Is the Watchtower organisation facing the biggest crisis of its history?
by slimboyfat inrecent developments make me think they might be.
the problems they are facing are not just lack of funds but also draining authority, and the two could be a heady and explosive mix.
one of the best analyses ever written of the watchtower was a book called "trumpet of prophecy" by sociologist james beckford in the 1970s.

The respect for the organisation and it's leaders is diminishing.
I hear regular negative comments about GB members like Lett and Morris. The new song last night literally had many laughing and doing joke chorus girl moves.
The veil has been lifted on these morons.

Dis-association Vs Inactivity
by Listener inis it just me or is this just really bad double talk?.
9.372 moreover, the suggested finding has no connection with preventing or responding to child sexual abuse and, furthermore, appears not to appreciate the difference between disassociation and inactivity.
as was explained, if someone decides to no longer associate with jehovahs witnesses that is a personal decision and no disciplinary action is taken against that person.

Whilst the WTS is more than happy to twist definitions and use semantics to wriggle away from criticisms they hate it when the same tactic is used against them.
As has been pointed out, fading away into inactivity might be permitted in as much as the elders leaving you alone is concerned but be under no illusion - you remain a baptised Witness in their eyes. If there is good reason to use that against you or your family who remain "in" then they will do so.
Writing a letter arguing semantics will have zero effect when they catch you celebrating Christmas 5 years down the line.

any JW construction going on other than Warwick?
by Magnum inis anybody aware of any kingdom hall builds going on or any kind of ldc activity?
i've been wanting to ask this, and committeechairman's question at the end of this thread, http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/289353/ldc-semininar?page=4&size=20, moved me to go ahead and ask.. i've kind of wondered whether the org leaders got rid of rbcs and instituted the ldc arrangement because they wanted to be able to stop or slow down construction without it being obvious.
if the rbcs were still in existence, it would be obvious that there's nothing (or almost nothing) going on (if that really is the way it is) because rbc personnel would be idle when they were used to being busy.

Chelmsford is moving ahead however it may be a while before things ramp up on site again. They have done much of the access roads, site clearance and preparation. They have held off most (maybe all) groundworks due to changing the plans. Many long term volunteers have been released from their assignment.
From what I can tell talking to contacts they are working through changing the designs to take into account the reduction in Bethel staff (-25%) and removal some of the "luxuries" like sports facilities and larger laundry and catering areas.
You can now count on one hand the number of projects the worldwide design team are working on. Warwick and Chelmsford are two of them.

Kingdom Halls projects are moving on. Whilst there is absolutely some prevarication by the LDC to push on with some halls I expect we shall see more activity over the coming months.
Part of the slow down has been due to the move from the RBC to LDC. This has been a big organisational change, complicated by the staffing changes at Bethel and the obvious financial backtracking and adjustments. Reading between the lines of conversations I have had I also suspect that the plan to have full time Bethel people running projects has not panned out as expected.
The biggest change has been at Bethel/RTO level. The worldwide design team has been slashed and I mean slashed. Pretty much every Bethel had some kind of renovation or improvement project being worked on. Over 90% of these projects have been canned.
Of course, the upper echelons are spinning the facts with no shame. The impression is that expansion continues, construction moves on and the need for workers and (more importantly) money is greater than ever. I think the comment I saw about the lack of JW.ORG signs on a number of halls used in this months broadcast was on the mark - I too suspect many of these are not quite as new as we are being led to believe. In that vein however, expect to see new halls and showcase RTOs promoted heavily in an attempt to keep momemtum on cash flowing in. As for when Warwick gets finished later this year the fanfare will be huge.

Have we become what we despise so much?
by Tenacious inthe majority of members who tend to join this forum have been hurt possibly even traumatized sometimes to the point of wanting to end their lives.
upon joining the forum, new members are welcomed with open arms, welcome messages start pouring in, "likes" are freely given, a false sense of security is promoted where a member is free to speak his mind without having to worry about the wt gestapo.
again, similar to how potential converts are welcomed and "love bombed" upon entering a kh for the first time.

There is far more difference of opinion and debate here than would ever be tolerated in any Kingdom Hall. It is true that sometimes there are strong disagreements, occasionally proper arguments and verbal fisticuffs. On the whole however, that does not prevent people coming together when needed. There is no way this would happen at the Kingdom Hall.
I guess it is fair to say that WT apologists and Creationist get short shrift however this is not because their opinions are not respected but generally because their approach is way too infantile.
One of the most refreshing things about releasing my mental shackles is being able to disagree with people yet still enjoy their company and maintain friendships.
