Local Witnesses joyfully open their hearts thinking the leash has slackened!
Is this a harbinger of a change for the better?
No. The leash will snap tight after the last delegate flies back home.
Spot on Steve!

Yup, cos there is nothing even remotely bizzare about dancing in suits and ties in a car park, or cheering like a bunch of fans at a movie premiere for some people who managed the ridiculous feat of getting on a plane, flying to another country and then going on a bus trip. In a suit.
Oh, and it proves white people can't dance. In (or out of) a suit.
I just wish they would admit they are having a 100 year birthday party. In suits.
there are certain "junk" words that litter our brain, pollute our vocabulary, and play fast and loose with our reasoning.. one of those junk words is spirit.. the words means nothing, but extrapolations of its metaphorical pretense are everywhere!.
we have five sense connected with our body link to brain.. hearing, vision, taste, touch, sense of smell.. with those five we are in touch with things as they exist.. reality is what it is.. through technology, science has been able to amplify our senses with microscopes, telescopes, x-rays, mri's, space probes, atom smashers, etc.. but--i assure you--none of this has produced evidence of "spirit.".
the last thing that happens when you die is this.
Healthy skepticism requires that our beliefs should be commensurate with the available evidence
Even when I was completely "in" I always thought of myself as a skeptic. Perhaps I was enough of one to enable my waking up to the reality of the JW religion but the second greatest realisation I have had other than the deconstruction of my faith is that my skeptism was really at infant levels and not healthy at all.
Understanding that has really helped me to keep my sanity as my entire points of reference have disappeared and I have had to seriously consider what I really believe and how I go about choosin what to accept or not accept. Healthy skeptism is not necessarily cynical and allows one to be open minded with far less risk of taking on board beliefs and concepts that effectively put one back in the same place as when a Witness.
Asking for reasonable corroborative evidence is not the same as closing your mind.
mc happy?
auditions?
the cockney man was an authentic touch.
My wife remarked that it seems strange to have to have a video telling witnesses how to be friendly to other witnesses.
i just wanted to get a feel for how many here have awakened to ttatt but are still carrying on some jw activities to pacify them and keep the peace.
also trying to hear from those who have left, but whose spouse has stayed in the wt and in the marriage.. for me it comes down to my own mental anguish.
i am mentally tortured by attending the meetings, yet i feel compelled to because my wife would kill me with her personality if i had her drag 2 small girls by herself there.
12 - I am still nominally active but working on my wife and tryin to fade in a way that allows family relations to continue. I think I am going to have to push things harder though.
ok, so i dont want to be a negative bitter person...and we all love little kids, but i am just so torn about the new video just uploaded on jw.org.
if you havent watched it yet, have a look at it...."an animated series that touches hearts".
(yes, its well done...and they certainly like to do a lot of boasting about their technical skills etc...).
It's about how the Caleb videos are made. Aprrently the GB, faced by the lovable Tony, give their teaching requirements to Caleb who posts it through the door of the "animation dept" and then the production process is shown. It's just like how Disney would do it and very professional.
Having said that, the "animation dept" is an outside agency who we now know to be a JW owned business with nice offices and run by a college educated JW animator. I wonder if all that work is being done on a Bethel stipend? On top of that all the audio recording is being done in state of the art WTS facilities paid for with the hard earned dollars of the faithfull.
There is of course more context to all of this and it's unfair to impute bad motives to the creatives but aren't the WTS lucky there are some college educated specialists who can turn the Caleb tripe out without question.
you would think that what they are exposed to more would wake up and leave, why not?
thoughts..
For the same reason people like me are still executing some kind of exit after 2 years. Fear of the family and social consequences of simply upping sticks and stopping.
