With enough "..." (learned that punctuation from the WTBTS btw), an argument could be made that there's a kind of code going on.....
The elipses (. . .) not in the original article. I didn't want to quote the whole article.

If the WT is busy bashing others for X offense then the dubs assume the WTS is not gulity of said X offense, even if they're the biggest offenders!!!
As a new convert (within a year), that was one of the very first observations I made that got me starting to wonder (somewhere wayyyyy in the back of my mind).

Interesting profile in the 2/15/2000 Watchtower (pp.26-29) praising a 17th-century Orthodox Church Patriarch who was murdered and thrown to the sharks for attempting to effect reform in his church.
QUOTE:
========================
Cyril Lucaris (b. 1572, d. 1638) was elected Patriarch of Alexandria in 1602 then as the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople in 1620 -- second in importance to the Roman Catholic Pope in the then Christian world. He sought to make major reforms within the eastern Orthodox Church including a translation of the Bible in the common Greek language of the day so that everyone could read it. Some changes he wanted to make included stomping out the worship of Icons, the Apochryphal books, and the high authority in which the Church Father's writings were viewed and held on par with the Scriptures.
He saw corruption and hate and ignorance and wanted it stopped by reform and education and presenting this information to the people rather than keeping such information suppressed and forbidden. He was determined to "right" the "wrongs" of his church and point a finger at those wrongs. (Ephesians 5:11)
However, not everyone was happy with the changes and improvements he wanted to make to his church - particularly the church leaders themselves. They especially didn't like the "finger pointing." He was going to "rock the boat" and they would have none of it lest they loose their positions of comfort, security, and authority. (John 11:48) Several conspiracies villified him in the eyes of the people and the authorities in order to have him banished (disfellowshipped). Eventually he was murdered.
. . .
Once again, the ruling ecclesiastical class suppressed efforts to make God's Word available to their flock. They violently silenced a voice that pointed to some of the errors of their non-Biblical beliefs. They proved to be the worst enemies of religious freedom and truth.
Sadly, this is a stance that in various ways survives even to our day. It is a sobering reminder of what happens when clergy-instigated intrigues stand in the way of freedom of thought and expression.

Can you BELIEVE they actually published that in the Watchtower, and it goes right over the heads of the R&FJW???
<sighhh!> Yes.
(Shades of Raymond Franz.)
Sometimes I think they write that kind of blatant stuff just to flaunt and annoy us xjw "apostates"!
a significant number of former jehovah's witnesses come out of the watchtower still believing the bible and considering themselves christians.
most coming out are in a serious state of bewilderment, and they look intently and sincerely for something to fill the huge void of lost religion, lost family and friends, and lost fellowship.
they seek some viable spiritual association with others of like mind while at the same time having become very wary of any organized religion.. what is it that eventually draws so many of us (not me) to agnosticism or atheism?
Are you saying that the Most Almighty/All-Smart can't produce evidence that will convince 99.99% of the people that He Is What He Is?
No. I'm saying I'm not trying to convince you of God. (And evidently neither is He.)
one of the reasons is that people are disturbed by what is happening in their churches.
yes, millions of persons have been shocked to learn that things they were taught as being vital for salvation are now considered by their church to be wrong.
have you, too, felt discouragement, or even despair, because of what is happening in your church?
THANKS, Osarsif (and Norm, of course!)
a request for some advice pls.. firstly, a bit of background.. my mother raised my younger brother and i in the truth.
she did so alone until she remarried in the early 80s.
my stepfather was a dyed in the wool dub who never varied from the party line.
Dear Mr. Angry:
Many of us here can certainly sympathesize most sincerely with your feelings and frustration. You might find a good example of the WT religion's position on this kind of thing revealed in a post on SilentLamb's website. http://www.silentlambs.org
On that site you will find the confession of a former JW elder who tells about one man in his former congregation who confessed to have committed murders prior to becoming a Witness. The elder inquired from others and the Society whether he should report this knowledge to the authorities. They said no.
In all likelihood, the elders in your stepfather's congregation would regard anything you tell them as "gossip" and would do nothing whatsoever about it.

proplog2:
It might prove it to you and not prove it to someone else. The Watchtower would probably claim that Satan did it posing as "an angel of light". Fundamentalists have all kinds of testimonies they swear by that have befuddled doctors.
But in the terms you have defined "logic", the absense of "proof" of a thing does not prove the opposite of the thing to be true, nor even necessarily imply it. Regardless of whether its about proving God or anything else.
proplog2, I'm not trying to convince you (or anyone else) of God. That's a personal decision. At this point, I'm just discussinig the implications "logic" versus "proof", regardless of whether it is about a supreme power or anything else. I hope you understand that.

Do you have this on your site that can be linked to and/or printed out?

Metatron:
I agree with you. I would be perfectly satisfied with Watchtower reform that would stop the shunning, and reform their teachings on blood, and reporting crime to the civil authorities. Aside from that, let the blind follow the blind if that is their choice -- as long as they are not harming anyone else.

Hi, Maximus:
I saw this guy in a video interview. He was the epitome of blank-faced, emotionless, robotic parroting WT policy.
