  Email from a friend's mother

  wow, i was just forwarded an email from a good friend of mine who recently moved away from where i live.

  he was telling me that his mother sent this to him after he expressed concern about the pedophile issue.

  he couldn't believe that she basically attacked him over this and that she defended the issue so strongly.

  so different in other religions. You can be a murderer, homosexual, pedophile and still be a member in good standing. Catholic priests are only "defrocked".

  Or as she should be saying can't serve as an elder but sure as hell can do everything else in the wonderful world of JW's. She is totally blind and stubborn as hell. It's really sad.

  Trading Standards

  this thought just crossed my mind.. if the watchtower society was a product and not a religion they would be prosecuted by the advertizing standards authority for misleading advertizing,and the trading standards authority for not supplying the promised product.. .

  it seems that we have more rights when we buy a vacume cleaner or groceries than when we buy into a religion that can control our whole lives resources.

  Interesting thoughts. I'd say there are too many loopholes for organizations that deal with "religion" that allows them to get away with all sorts of bullshit nobody else can.

  i'd like to share with you all a personal experience that i had recently.. i had told a freind about the u.n issue (j.w) and she said to let her know when i got my answer from the governing body about why they joined.. she asked about it, i did not bring it up, and i showed her their response (the standard explanation from brooklyn which you have all seen.).

  we then got into a very interesting conversation.. she agreed with me that the explanation was very unacceptable, she did not even try to argue it.. she even accepted that it was wrong of the w.t to do this - i was very surprised.

  we got into talking about the governing body, and my problems with it, and she surprised me further when she said that she does not believe that the governing body should be followed or held in as high regard as god or jesus.. she believes that god works through this organisation, but thinks that there are so many problems with j.w's never questioning their stands or logic.
