Where are all these New Anointed Ones Coming from?
by John Aquila inback in the early 70s, right before 1975 we had about 7 or 8 thousand professed anointed.
cant remember the exact number.
but at every convention we were told that the end is close ---because---the number of anointed is getting smaller and smaller.

Hot Springs, Ark. — A large highway sign on the drive to the Hot Springs Convention Center advertises the town proudly as the “boyhood home of President Bill Clinton.”
But Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was the big name in town here Friday night, where he keynoted the state’s annual GOP dinner, and reminded a crowd of about 1,000 attendees: “By the way, Hillary Clinton, with her husband, deserted Arkansas.”
...
The convention center was teeming with a surprisingly diverse crowd for a Trump dinner just before his arrival. But all of the African American attendees, it became clear, were on site to attend a Jehovah’s Witness conference taking place next door. Trump’s crowd, in the end, was almost completely white.

DesirousOfChange - Dancing With The Stars is popular, instead of PBS
That and the fact that Trump is leading the polls in the GOP kinda sums it all up in the USofA, doesn't it.
That should tell ya that there will always be some suckers around for WT to scam. That reminds me... Did you hear the one about the Republican presidential candidate who turned up in the "boyhood home of President Clinton" for a GOP dinner to find the place teeming with a surprisingly racially diverse crowd?
All of the African American attendees, it became clear, were on site to attend a Jehovah's Witness conference taking place next door. Trump's crowd, in the end, was almost completely white.
TRUE STORY. It happened this weekend.

Demoted from elder to MS, anybody ever heard of this?
by Naoscillator inso a friend in a nearby hall told me their co came through, and in a hellish week of long meetings and inquisition overhauled the boe.
only one remains as elder, three were re-appointed as ms, and one, the cobe was deleted entirely.. two new elders were brought in as new secretary and cobe / watchtower conductor, respectively, and introduced to the congregation from the platform on sunday immediately following his second talk.
he reminded everybody of the authority he has and then named the new appointees.

Splash - The scriptural difference between an elder and MS is that the elder must be 'qualified to teach'.
Good point, but therein lies the conundrum for the JWs. Is an elder 'qualified to teach' before he is appointed as an elder or only after he is appointed as an elder?
If it is before he is appointed as an elder then he was indeed 'qualified to teach' as a ministerial servant. But if it is only after he is appointed as an elder then he should not have been appointed as an elder as he was not 'qualified to teach'.
This was the whole argument of Paul in Romans 4:9-12.
On the other hand, the Bible lists practices and personal habits that prevent someone from being appointed as an elder or ministerial servant. Many of these are disfellowshipping offences. If a brother does not qualify then is it reasonable to conclude that his practices and personal habits disqualified him?
Of course, in a man-made religion under the control of a corporation none of this matters.

If you were told today you would die next week, would you be happy and fine with that?
by EndofMysteries ini don't know how so many who seem to be certain this life is it after being jw's seem to happily accept it and be fine with it.
i am living and trying to live as if this is it.
i want there to be a future life/afterlife, something, but i see how fast life comes and goes and even if i'm living it to the fullest, there is no peace for me with the thought this may be it.

What kind of errors in the Bible?
by TheWonderofYou inthe new testament specialist daniel wallace notes that although there are about 300,000 individual variations of the text of the new testament, this number is very misleading.
most of the differences are completely inconsequential--spelling errors, inverted phrases and the like.
a side by side comparison between the two main text families (the majority text and the modern critical text) shows agreement a full 98% of the time.[18].

How many Atheist organizations or irreligious organizations have been accused of the covering up child abuse?
by jwleaks ini don't know of any but would like some references if anyone does.
of course not all atheists or irreligious people need to belong to an organization.. studies on the demographics of atheism have concluded that self-identified atheists comprise anywhere from 2% to 8% of the world's population, whereas irreligious individuals represent a further 10% to 20%.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/demographics_of_atheism.

Phizzy - What would it prove if you could find an Atheist/irreligious Organization that had covered up Child Abuse ?
Of course , I do not think you have phrased the Thread Title well.
There are very few, if any Atheist Organizations, or Organizations that totally exclude the religious.
What exactly are you trying to get at ?
What is the point of this Thread ?Phizzy, the information is being collected, including any feedback they can get, for someone who plans to present it to the Australian Child Abuse Royal Commission. The subject of the thread title is "atheist organizations" and "irreligious organizations". The key points in the title is "have been accused of the covering up" of child abuse.

disposable hero of hypocrisy - Sorry for the big paste, but this is from Wikipedia...
disposable - Thanks for the Wiki link. I would imagine it is a safe bet that none of these organizations would have policies that come anywhere near the JW's in relation to the handling of child molestation within their group, let alone the "two witness" rule.
cofty - What is an "atheist organisation"?
cofty - The OP was something that I was asked recently. My guess was that an "atheist organisation" would have at least be registered under a law as a legal entity and at the least have an Articles of Association.
ruby456 - thanks for the UN cover up link. I have just gone through the Wikileaks documents.
CalebInFloroda - children generally do not join atheist organizations
CalebInFloroda - good point.
nicolaou - I myself have found the question challenging the more I go into it which is why I included by "atheist" and "irreligious" in the title and op. Of course child abuse would not stop if there was no religion but the vast majority occurs within religion, with the abuser claiming religious affiliation. All points aside, it's not the abuser that was the subject but rather the propensity of the organization to cover up.
