What criteria do Jehovah's Witnesses use to label a former member an apostate?
1. Have they said or written anything at all about Jehovah's Witnesses or Watch Tower?
check this out on the russian ministry of justice webpage.
the governing body is going to have to do some fancy footwork to get around this criteria:.

the crowd on the street (see photo) is now inside and the gallery is packed.. yesterday jehovah's witnesses presented a written legal argument - "objections to the administrative claim of the ministry of justice of the russian federation" - to the supreme court of russia which, in paragraph 254, argued that if the ministry for justice liquidates and bans the activities of jehovah's witnesses then this will force individual members to renounce or abandon their religion for fear of persecution.. download legal argument (russian).

Адвокат Женков is being mistranslated as lawyer little wife. It should be "Lawyer Zhenkov".

12.33 PM Moscow time.
The court has retired to the deliberation room. All attempts by the Jehovah's Witnesses for an adjournment have failed.
Interestingly the JWs applied to have 395 other legal entities of Jehovah's Witnesses added as defendants. The argument was that if the decision affects all JW legal entities then they all should be present. Rejected.

i know that on paper the watchtower have about 8 million members but what if lots of them are just around so they dont get shunned and dont give any money in the box..they have been making cuts for a long time and in 2012 they closed 20 branch offices around the world,of course some people are giving lots of, money but they have to find the money for from 40 and 60 million magazaines a month..
Think of the Watchtower's cut back as a 'spiritual circumcision.' Only in this case they were left with the foreskin, merely a remnant of what they used to be.

vorokhobino, russia — a dedicated pacifist who has never even held a gun, andrei sivak discovered that his government considered him a dangerous extremist when he tried to change some money and the teller “suddenly looked up at me with a face full of fear.”.
his name had popped up on the exchangalee bureau’s computer system, along with those of members of al qaeda, the islamic state and other militant groups responsible for shocking acts of violence.. the only group the 43-year-old father of three has ever belonged to, however, is jehovah’s witnesses, a christian denomination committed to the belief that the bible must be taken literally, particularly its injunction “thou shalt not kill.”.
Interesting reporting from New York Times. Did Andrei Sivak's name really pop up on the exchange bureau’s computer system, along with those of members of Al Qaeda, the Islamic State and other militant groups responsible for shocking acts of violence?
I hardly believe so. Russia has a wanted list of 260 terrorists, in addition to a secondary list of about 50 extremist organizations and over 1500 extremist individuals (which includes people accused or suspected of money laundering).
It is more likely Sivak's name was singularly flagged.
This part of the story by New York Times is a beat up. If a person in the USA is pulled over in their vehicle by the police they will do a license check. If you have an unpaid fine or even a misdemeanor then your name could come up and you could be arrested. It could even be for not paying child support. Would it be fair to say your name "popped up" on a computer system "along with those of members of Al Qaeda, the Islamic State and other militant groups responsible for shocking acts of violence"? Hardly.
what i don't get about the russian petition action:.
watchtower launched at march, 21 the petition action.. in the instructions they write it can take 14 days for postal arrival in russia.. on april, 5 they expect legal clarification from the supreme court.. so, conclusion: the letters will arrive just around the day of clarification.. conclusion: this action is planned for media impact only.
if it was to make judges think, (what they don't do on a petition cry), .
It could be effective when there were made concessions. Like between China and the Watchtower during the 90's, when the Watchtower changed their definition of the word "Kingdom", for negotiation with the government.
This is similar to what Watchtower did in Mexico to maintain ownership of the kingdom halls when laws were passed that all religious buildings became state property for the benefit of the community. This did not affect worship but meant Watchtower could never flip the buildings for profit. Watchtower changed the building purpose and then gave the impression they were an education center (building). They also dropped the singing of songs.
im just curious what was discussed.
apparently they flew one of the ny boys in..
"Soon, very soon . . . no governing body members were available to appear, again . . . persecution . . . donations . . . Amen!"
i'm rather gobsmacked to hear that an elder in my ex congregation has been appointed a prison chaplain (in the uk).
the reason for my disbelief, is that, this particular prison is for "schedule 1" offenders - covering sex crimes, child abuse/paedophilia and even downloading child pornography.
the reason for my reaction is that he has at least 9 "disciples" who have a bible study but i cannot help but think that when they are released, they will be part of a congregation, where they will have access to children and vulnerable people?
There is the equivelent of an entire congregation of JWs in prison in the UK and they need a COBE.
