  Saved by grace or by works?

  according to the wts if we do not produce acts of good work (feild service, attending 5 meetings weekly, circuit and district assemblies etc), we are not worthy of salvation.

  according to the bible, we attain salvation through god's undeserved grace ( or kindness in jw lingo).

  what i am looking for is scriptural proof that will shoot down the first and support the latter.

  "And what is Jehovah asking back from you, but to exercise justice, and to love kindness and to be modest in walking with your God"

  Not a lot to ask of us.

  If only I had been warned years ago about cults. But then perhaps I still wouldn't have believed that the JWs were a cult. I used to wonder how people could be so gullible, not realising I was so deeply involved with one of the worse cults around.

  as we entered a door of the administration building we did not head to the elevator to take us up the eight floors to the main administration floor.

  i looked around the room and asked, "what's up with her?

  i was going to work with the elder from hell who ran the photography department.

  Raymond Franz

  raymond franz was a member of the governing body and was a jw for many years till he left.. he wrote a book which provides a great insight into jw's but what is really good about it is he isn't bitter when he comes across and so far i am really enjoying the read.. also in there are copies of letters sent from him to the society or the other way around and i recommend anyone who can find it should read it!.

  As you can tell from all of the comments, Ray Franz is so highly respected - in fact after reading his books Crisis of Conscience and In Search Of Christian Freedom, we were moved to thank him for helping us escape from the clutches of the JWs (after 32 years in) within a week he had written back to us, such a loving and encouraging letter. We thought it was so thoughtful of him, even though he is in his eighties (I think) and has not been too well in the last few years, he actually took the time to write a letter to us. What a stark contrast to the London Bethel, we wrote to them asking them to help us understand things such as the UN involvement etc. well that was over 3 years ago and we are still waiting for an acknowledgement.

  Welcome to the board to all the Newbies, it's just great to see so many new ones coming out of the JWs

  i had an idea that i could build a uk map of everyones location which would show you instantly who is in your area from jwd.. (it might be an idea to do a seperate us one aswell but i'll wait and see if this one takes off first, or if anyone from the us wants to volunteer to do that one).

  (and australia but you are all in the same backyard anyway - literally!!!).

  anyway, all you have to do is post or email me your username and town and i will draw you on the map above which will change gradually to include everyone!.

  Suggestions Please

  my wife and i have been married for over 10 years and we have three sons.

  she grew up in a jw family.

  he sisters, brother, mother, aunts, uncles and other extended family are mostly jw.

  Keep in mind the way this cult works. They will quote scriptures in order to control ones. One scripture they often use is ...A man's (or woman's) enemies will be persons of his own household.... this is often directed at the "unbelieving mate". So the more that you try to stop your wife going to meetings, the more you will be fulfilling the scripture i.e. according to the Watchtower teachings.

  You may have more success with the advice given by seven006.

  I hope that things work out well for you both and that your wife will eventually see the religion for what is really is - a mind-controlling evil cult.

  After being a witness for over 32 years I am able to speak from experience and strength, I only wish I had seen them for what they really are.

  it was on another thread (jwfacts' one about his jc meeting) that i posted a personal experience and it occurred to me, that although it is well behind me and i don't dwell on it (much!

  ), it may be of some help to those who visit here and are unsure what they think about their jw beliefs.. i wrote:.

  We certainly agree with your comments "Evil Bastards" . In the last year of our 30 yr "sentence" in the Org. we heard what we thought was a joke and it went like this

  What's the difference between an Elder and a Terrorist - the answer - You can reason with a terrorist!!!!. We now realise that it wasn't a joke.

  I can't help but thinking that Matt 7 v 21 seems to typify the conduct of these so-called christians. If anyone may have doubts as to the validity of the JWs they would do well to read the early history of that Organisation. After-all, every building without a good foundation would soon start to show cracks. It's interesting to read about the period when Russell founded the Org.

  ita funny last night i looked through some awakes from 1991 through 2001.and i saw a lot of refrences saying the un is the beast from revaltion there is also a article about the pope visiting the un.you should all read it its the 1996 awake7/8 funny thing is why would some one who is surporting the un say these things about them.ovesly some people ar cluthing at straws

  Good for you Sandy - they are running true to form! They were associated for almost ten years, isn't it amazing how their team of highly paid lawyers didn't alert them to the obvious hypocrisy.

  After being in the Org. for over thirty years we came to realise that they are nothing more than a mind controlling cult and full of lies.
