What language was Jesus most at home with?
by fulltimestudent inour former loving brothers and sisters have been instructed to think that, jesus likely spoke a form of hebrew and a form of aramaic.
(aid to bible understanding-103-105).
of course, there is no way to demonstrate the truth of that assertion or any other assertion about the languages that the common people of the land spoke.

It's interesting that right before this happened, Caleb and St. B were arguing...it wasn't out of hand, but maybe Caleb got sick of it and it set something off. -

Should I be mad?
by kairos ini've been df'd for about six weeks now.no one has broken the obligation to "honor the disfellowshipping decree".that's the way notorious co paul kohler describes the "loving arrangement" that is jw shunning.
( just "serving" napa ).
so, my wife's family has been "loving me" ( barf ) when out of nowhere, one of them sends home homemade soup for me.... well, i got super pissed.

I think overall, it was a nice thing she did. If I was you, I would leave a message on her machine, saying 'thanks so much for the comforting bowl of soup. It was a very nice gesture and I needed some comfort, since I am being shunned by everyone I was ever allowed to be close to, simply for changing my mind about their religion. It was so nice you thought of me, and I am never going back to that cult and I am enjoying making new friends and being able to live my life as I feel is right. Thanks again! Bye.' -

Loved your post, CD. Thanks for that. I have always had a particular vitriol towards Mormons... Then I figured out it was my own frustration with myself being raised a JW,...venting against Mormons was sort of an indirect outlet!! So many similarities, yet discussing how WEIRD and what a CULT mormons were was a favorite pastime!!
Did you really believe 6 kids gets your family your own planet?? And can a man say his wife's secret name to ensure her salvation??

I registered to vote yesterday.
by Zoos ini had to take the drivers license was up for renewal so while filling out the paperwork, i checked the motor voter box.

LOL that is hilarious NJ.
zoos that is awesome. im going for Bernie. Hillary did a nice job at the debate, but it's ridiculous to think she will help heal divisions in this country, didn't she mention that was her goal? Yeah....
i really like voting for local issues too. But presidential elections are great. I love staying up late at night watching the statistics come in across the country. good stuff! I will be sad to see Obama leave tho. It's so weird thinking he won't be president anymore.

Intriguing - but Unsubstantiated!
by The Searcher inaccording to one source on a western european 'apostate' website, the org's plan is to abandon the name "jehovah's witnesses" in the future, and replace it with "worshippers of jehovah.".
http://www.bruderinfo-aktuell.de/index.php/fixnews/#comment-4313 .
the gist of the account appears to be a repeat of rutherford's re-branding and debunking of old predictions made by the previous shower of fakers.

The Christian Congregation of Jehovah Worshippers...this mouthful reminds me of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. :) well actually their current name is just as awkward isn't it? Seriously, wipe the slate, just call themselves THE TRUTH already. (And here we can call it THE LIES.) -

How was it when you were a JW as a kid?
by nevaagain inwhats worse than being an adult jw?
when i was a kid i always had a bad concience all the time.
i believed i would not survive armageddon for the fact that i didn't like going to service and i didnt like going to the meetings.

The witness fun I had growing up, was socialization with other witnesses-picnics, 'get togethers', outings, that had everything to do with the people, and nothing to do with the WTBTS. Everything to do with the WTBTS was either negativity, boring, stifling, or flat out painful. We bore it. We got through it. Just so we could just be together in our free time. -

Worshippers of Jehovah, or Jehovah's Worshippers, is still a funky, awkward, late 1800's or early 1900's sounding name. If they were going to change their name, they should start over. -

Nice moment today
by Theburstbubble inso it's been a few months since i last went to a meeting but i've still had lots of guilty feelings about leaving, such as am i doing the right thing, thinking about friends and family, where do i go from here etc etc.
but i think once you stop believing you can't go back.. anyway, today i had a very nice experience.
my daughter had been to nursery today and when she got home i asked her what she had done and she excitedly told me they had been doing pumpkins.

It's such a nice thing to embrace the seasons, kids love this stuff, because they are just learning traditions and the cycle of life. It's such a huge relief not to have to say 'um, sweetie, actually that's BAD!' but instead to simply smile and say 'how wonderful! Aren't pumpkins great, how you can make faces in them and then light them up from the inside?'
