the history channel had a spt.

11 show on last night, and most of it was the same ol' same ol'---but something did catch my attention.. video was being shown of people evacuating lower manhattan, and the brooklyn bridge was filled to capacity with people.. the voice over says, "people fled every way they could--they streamed across the bridge to brooklyn.".

now, i'm wondering, if you had just left ground zero and you were one of the ones runningon the bridge--and you saw a big sign that said--.

I was checking posts on the Witnessesonline.com site that date. What I read there sickened me. One post in particular had an account quoted from someone who was at Bethel. With regard to the "help" and "comfort" given out to the people pouring into Brooklyn was this statement (I did screen prints of the actual post so that I wouldn't forget the "loving attitude" displayed):

All Bethelites were to 'stay' in the building they were in until it ws time to go home. Until then...no walking between the buildings and all buildings are locked down--for security. (They had one man on the street run in for 'safety'...and they don't want any 'strangers' coming in!).

Anyone still bothered by the demons?

hi i'm wednesday and born and raised in jw.-inactive several years.

i have had a number of iincidents that appear to demonic've had spirit beings sit on my bed at ight and talk to me i've been literally touched by things unseen.

now i know the jw are big on demon stuff.

Wednesday, while I was an active JW, I had several experiences that I chalked up to "demons". These incidents had nothing to do with sleep paralysis, and they were truly disturbing at the time.

Since I have become inactive, however, and come to appreciate life without fear of being destroyed in an imminent cataclysm, there have been no further negative experiences.

At this point in time, I'm not really sure if God is, in fact, an actual entity, or if what we perceive as "God" is simply a postive force, or energy, into which we can tap. If this is so, then there is most likely an equivalent negative force, which is perceived as demonic. JWs tend to focus in on this negative force and would, therefore, have more experiences of the negative kind.

This is just a theory, and I have no idea if it is, in fact, correct, but it does explain a lot of things for me.

Which did you prefer? Watchtower or Awake?

when i was a jw, i really couldn't stomach the watchtowers.

the only articles i would read would be for the family study/watchtower study.

it seemed so archaic and old-people-ish.. i did read the awake from cover to cover almost every time.

MORE BAD NEWS FOR ME......

well i went to the cancer clinic yesterday, where i was told not only do i have endometrial cancer, i also have a rare form of it called clear cell cancer.

apparently, it's a very aggressive cancer and has a tendancy to spread towards the lymph nodes.. i was absolutely stunned when then told me this one..........yep, i don't smoke, do drugs, i'm not a drunk and i don't screw around and yet i get cancer.. i really would like to try the gerson therapy clinic in california, but it's $4,900.00 us per week........so with the conversion from canadian dollars, it would be about $8,000/week and i'd need to be there for at least 3 weeks.

anyone have about $25,000 i can borrow?

nervous and confused

hi, i have been reading post for over a month before getting up the nerve to register.

its been really interesting listening to all of your perspectives.

Your reactions are totally normal, and they are the reactions of anyone who is newly released from a cult.

You are always second guessing yourself and wondering if you've made the right decision. Fortunately, with sites such as this, as well as many others, you CAN ask questions and toss ideas around without fear of repercusssions.

When I first became inactive, I still believed that the JWs were correct, but that I could simply not deal with the "imperfections of men". I hoped that I would someday be able to get strong enough to go back. Whenever I attempted to go to the meetings, however, I would experience severe anxiety attacks. Most of the time I was unable to get out the door to go to the meetings, or, if I did, I would sit through the meeting hyperventilating in an absolute panic. Seems that my body and inner consciousness were trying to tell me something. LOL

Knowledge is the key to freedom. The more you find out of the truth about the "truth" the more you'll know that your decision is the correct one.

The Watchtower was pretty much a reworded rehash of the same stuff over and over, and I figured that anything pertinent would be covered in the Watchtower Study, so I never read it....although I DID feel guilty for not reading it.

The AWAKE! was more interesting, but it didn't really go into depth about any of the subjects. I'd read most of it, and then I'd get pissed off about the brothers in Bethel who were allowed to read the actual articles and books from which they gleaned their little synopses. I would be "good" and not read the original articles, but I always longed to do so.

if you had so much money that you didn't have to work, how would you spend your time?

I've thought about this from time to time in my win-the-lottery fantasies.

I love the place where I'm living, but I'd like to have the money to fix what needs fixing. Then I would replace our little stable that frequently needs a few whacks from a sledge hammer to keep the walls in their proper place on the foundation.

I would definitely set up a trust fund for my daughter, who is disabled with anxiety disorders, and one for my nephew, who is currently going through a bad episode of depression. Then, there would be a few "gifts" for my nieces and their families to help them along.

I'd like to contribute quite a bit to various charities, including those that help animals. If possible, I'd like to negotiate with the neighbors to get some more land so that I could get a couple of additional horses....probably one well-bred Peruvian, and one or two rescues that were on their way to slaughter.

It would probably be a good idea to get a new car, since mine is 11 years old (but, I DO love that car)....maybe I'd just keep it and make sure it was well-maintained.

witness sites

on a post by jonathanseagull, he was talking about going onto witness sites, posing as one, and talking to them.

i surfed a little on the net, and checking out some of the sites, i noticed that there are bigtime restrictions to get in.

they are very critical, better be a witness, etc to even be considered to get in.

I joined one that didn't require the sacrifice of your firstborn to be accepted, but it was so dull that I haven't even looked at it in months. They don't allow any opposing views, and will delete posts that seem at all disloyal to the BOrg. There's only so many posts about the latest publication that one can stomach.
