Update - Talk # 6 THE FLOOD OF NOAH’S DAY AND YOU
by ttdtt ininstead of scraping this talk they updated it.. so they still try and make this look like it happened, and that there is plenty of evidence.to do that they refer to the (w08 6/1 8) found at http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/2008411the main evidence is that floods have happened in the past, including.... geologists studying the landscape of the northwestern united states believe that as many as 100 ancient catastrophic floods once washed over the area.
one such flood is said to have roared through the region with a wall of water 2,000 feet [600 m] high, traveling at 65 miles an hour [105 km/hr]—a flood of 500 cubic miles [2,000 cu km] of water, weighing more than two trillion tons.
similar findings have led other scientists to believe that a global flood is a distinct possibility.. i could not find such an event, except for remembering one of those "disaster" shows on discover about that.

Length of a Generation? Ask a governing agency or member of governing board
by kepler inin the saturday/sunday wall street journal for the weekend of april 9-10, 2016, in the us news section there was an article titled, "housing bust lingers for generation x.".
something clicked in my mind when i read.
"the data show an enormous swing in the fortunes of people born between 1965 and 1984, the group defined by the harvard joint center for housing studies as 'generation x'".. hmmm....generation did you say?

True or False .... The JW Religion was Started by Amateur Self Avowed Bible Theologians ?
by Finkelstein in.....who were able to propagate their self devised bible theology by utilizing a printing plant which they themselves were the head editorial writers .
c t russell and the man to follow him j rutherford, were both not academically trained bible theologians but they certainly were inspired businessmen to the fact, charlatans of their own era and time.. the return of jesus christ and a new world order to replace an old wicked world order, was just too much of a marketable and tangible concept for those men to just leave alone.
they exploited the already existing belief in the bible already structured within the population to where they preached their created version of the gospel, the rest is now history as well their many self devised albeit commercially appealing failed doctrines .

On the Fundamentalist Notion of Babylon Destroyed - Forgot to Tell Ancient World
by kepler inamong puzzlements of sitting down with jw reps with "what the bible really teaches", was the assertion that babylon was destroyed - forever - just like it says in these here chapters and verses.
then the nwt claims that peter i & ii were written from babylon.
but beside that, ancient greek, hebrew and roman writings are full of reference to babylon as an important center.

God said be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and govern it.
by atomant inl have a problem with this.lf adam and eve didnt sin the earth would eventually have been full to the brim with perfect human beings.then what every man gets the chop or no more sex?then on the other hand we have the jw's sayingresurrected ones will not be allowed to marry in the earthly new system.. married survivors of armageddon will remain married.
single survivors of armageddon may or may not be allowed to marry.so it seems that people reborn into new system wont be able to procreate.
and married survivors will stay married so l assume that means they can still hanky panky and have babys thats a bit unfair..the earth can only accommodate a maximum number of humans then what for the married couples.

2nd amendment right ... where should it end?
by Simon inone thing i like to do to test a theory is to take things to extremes or to their logical conclusion to see if the premises still hold.
very often, a claim that seems to make sense at a superficial level falls apart when you start to stretch it a little.. so let's play a game.. suppose the 2nd amendment is valid, that some "well regulated militia" really is necessary to hold the government to account.. obviously when this was drafted the government had access to the weapons of it's day which would be muskets!
so muskets all round.

How the Churches got the ‘End of the World’ wrong in 1492.
by fulltimestudent inin 1453 constantinople (also known as byzantium), the last remnant of the once mighty roman empire was a christian island in an islamic sea.
the city had been seriously weakened during the holy fourth crusade (1202-04), when fellow christians of the catholic brand had besieged the city, captured it, and savagely sacked it.. ( who needs enemies when you have christian friends?).
a miniature of the siege, artist unknown.

By the Rivers of Babylon Exhibit of Yahudu Tablets
by kepler inhas anyone noticed, commented or reported on the exhibit that opened in jerusalem: the yahudu tablets from babylon chronicling the daily life of judean exiles in babylon.
about 100 of them translated.
part of the private david sofer collection.. the announcements indicate that the earliest of the set dates to 572 bc and that they show how exile wasn't so bad.
