my husband and i have a friend who credits the lord with every good thing that happens in his life.
he is really a nice guy, unmarried, no kids and is now in remission from non hodgkins lymphoma (again, credit to the lord).
what do you think about people who credit the lord for every good thing that happens to them?
Thanks for your comments Yeru. I believe what someone said earlier about "time and unforseen occurance befall us all". I just can't swallow the "god's plan" theory. It doesn't make sense to me that a loving god would take a child from it's parents or parents from a child because it was part of his plan. What could god need with a small child? How could god need a mommy more than her children? Thanks also for being the first one to say that we do not have to recognize Jesus as god in order to be saved, I can't buy that line either.
I am happy for those who are saved, not nearly as happy as they are though. I guess I just feel it is more of a private thing and I am a bit offended when someone asks me if I am saved. What possible difference could that make in our relationship? It reminds me of dubs asking how many hours I got in or if I was pioneering, etc, etc. You were very helpful. Thank you again.
Joel, that is weird. Sometimes I wonder if anyone really thinks things through anymore. Thanks for your thoughts!

this is strictly for those who want to know how to become saved.
22 this righteousness from god comes through faith in jesus christ to all who believe.

Rex, why won't you just answer the question? I am not interested in studying the scriptures. It seems to me in your original post that you pulled many scriptures out of context and then when I questioned that, you cut and pasted a book. I think you are adding your own interpretations to what you posted. Fine, just admit it and lets move on.

Wait.
I don't have questions in the way that you imply.
I am questioning what you believe. You aren't answering my questions. I do find you rather insulting. You still have the I'm right and the other "cultural christians" (convenient little term) are wrong. right/wrong right/wrong jw/world jw/world see a pattern there?

That is utter nonsense. Your god is not a loving god if that is how he treats his followers. I want no part of a god who sees fit to save a few while allowing the rest to die. (WTC)
It makes no sense at all that only those who hear the call will feel the need to be saved, but some will never hear the call. Thus, never had a shot?

whoooooaaaaa!!!! Way too much. I am not searching for enlightenment.
I really just want to know where you came up with the statement that to fall short of the glory of god means eternal separation.
