many of their teachings have no biblical basis whatsoever.
they claim those leaders are in fact the faithful and discreet slave jesus spoke about in matthew 24. further, they alone were selected by jesus himself in 1919 to identify as this slave and that all other churches are false.. only 144,000 can partake of communion and go to heaven.

so this is from the brand new watchtower study edition of june 2025 which has just been posted on jw.org .under the title: modestly accept what you do not know, a let’s read paragraphs in question 4 &5: “read matthew 24:36. we do not know when the end of this system of things will come.
even jesus, while on earth, did not know the ‘day and hour.’ he later told the apostles that jehovah, who is the great timekeeper, keeps the timing of certain events ‘in his own jurisdiction,’ or authority.
Thanks for posting that preamble to the old editions of the Awake!, Seabreeze. It truly is a thing of beauty! 😍 😄😅😹
i was going to write a new topic but now i just can't be bothered ... and i'll tell you why.. on my facebook feed a few days ago, i saw an interview of a couple of onlyfans girls, who said that they were active christians that attended church weekly.
and while i was going to spend some time writing about the virtues of our faith's strict moral standards ... i now understand that i'd only be flamed as a watchtower apologist.. that being said, out of the approximately 4 million onlyfan girls out there ... it obvious, that none are jehovah's witnesses..
"And if some of those girls are still attending meetings, while being so comfortable very publicly prostituting themselves ... then name names Liam."
Why?

Even if there were no JW OF girls (and it seems that that assertion is disputed), there is this charming lady who did a nude photo shoot:
And she remains in good standing within the congregation. 🙄
let's start the ball rolling with two connected claims.. the religion of jehovah’s witnesses is the one true religion.
all other religions are satanic, including all the churches of christendom..
Magnum: "Many JWs would use terminology others aren't familiar with. I remember this big JW dude, about 60yrs old, who was just not what I'd call a normal person. Somebody asked him a question when he was in the door to door ministry. I don't remember the question, but I remember how his answer began. He said in his very deep voice and his very slow manner of speaking, "Well, now, the faithful and discreet slave says..." I cringed. The person he was answering didn't know who or what JWs say the "faithful and discreet" is. It sounded so culty. There is so much wrong with that response. It indicated to me a lack of common sense on the part of the JW and certainly a lack of teaching ability."
Perhaps in his mind, using jargon like that would provoke a response where the householder might ask what the FDS was? Or was it so ingrained in his mind and his day to day interactions with other JWs that he never thought of using any other term?
🤦♀️this 25 million different languages thing is getting ridiculous.
this link is hilarious!
they've only gone and translated into jamaican patois and boy this isn't just translation, they're literally using slang....what next?
Diogenesister, I actually have a copy of the Bible in Cockney. 🙄 Approved by none other than the Archbishop of Canterbury.

"teaching" should read "teachings".
i misread vanderhoven7's most recent post as being the above.
Duran, this isn't meant to be a thread for argumentation. If you think that the JWs are right about "Jehovah", then write that as your contribution to this thread. 🙄
Just the things you personally think the JWs got right, Peeps! Don't argue with other respondents' answers; play nice! 🐱

That the true religion as approved by Yahweh Himself would be incorporated as a US company and have an unpaid workforce of book salespeople (colportueur, anyone?)
The term "spirit creature" has always irked me, for some reason. When did they start using that term? Was it Chuckles T Russell himself, or did he steal that from someone else, or was it someone later than Russell who came up with that peculiar turn of phrase?

I misread Vanderhoven7's most recent post as being the above. So I started on that topic, until I realised that I needed to learn how to read properly. 🙄😱 Anyway, here are my answers (feel free to add any, if you can think of them):
1. That the Christian religion should be based on the Bible alone. (It's up to you how well you think they succeed in their stated goal, of course)
2. That the Tetragrammaton was better transliterated "Yahweh". (Found in the introduction to their earlier bibles)
(That's all I got!)
Vanderhoven7's post that sparked this one: https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/6244295636418560/what-some-jw-teachings-that-you-do-agree

I imagine that they will. They've got a lot to lose. More of these kinds of decisions being made only leads to more governments taking notice, and that is never good for the WT.
