Flash Mob at the Kingdom Hall
by wisdomfrombelow inwouldn't it be interesting if dozens of people showed up at a kingdom hall as part of a flash mob, not being disorderly, but to make a statement.
maybe all raising their hands on a particular question and giving a "real comment" instead of restating the paragraph.
or they could all leave if when one of the paragraphs says "internet bad...ignorance good".

"You don't go to the platform to say nonsense."
by Tempest in a Teacup insecond in a series of reminiscing disappointments that cut me off this religion one string at a time.... actually, i had a one week break which i spent quite poorly: not sleeping at night, so i could catch up on my favorite shows, eating crappy foods the whole day, booze and hangovers.
i'm an introvert and really, this for me is an ideal holiday :).
but...all the above, coupled with having too much free time has brought back some demons who had been sleeping...and snoring.. back to the topic.. in my former congregation, there's one wannabe-elder-no-education-hates-his-job-envies-others-mysogynist-ministerial servant.

Friends of All Sorts....
by wisdomfrombelow inwhen i hear people say that you can't keep your jw friends when you leave i can understand why they say that.
however, i can also see how that is a generalization.
i remember my life growing up as a jw and having good friends who were jewish and catholic and protestant and buddhist and hindu and muslim and atheists.

Religious Freedom Laws...
by wisdomfrombelow ini wonder if the religious freedom laws would allow active jws to discriminate against former jws?
could a business owner decide not to serve or sell to someone they consider "apostate" according to their beliefs?
if so it could take shunning to a whole new level in some states.

In the unlikely event of organizational collapse: Safe Haven and Outreach Centres for JW survivors
by truthseeker inimagine if the watchtower completely collapsed.
now image millions of people who put jehovah first suddenly see their hopes, dreams, beliefs and faith shattered.. they have been told all their lives that there is no place else to go except jehovah's organization.. there will be casualties from the fall out - perhaps hundreds or thousands of suicides.. the exjw community should do all they can, if able, to help these ones.
they are in the best position to understand their fellow jws.

Trump and Rutherford
by wisdomfrombelow inwhen i was thinking about trump's personality and appeal it reminded me of joe rutherford.
be loud, bombastic, always project that your viewpoint is 100% correct and you will nonetheless get people who will follow you to the ends of the earth...

The Revelation of New Light--The Need for Change (April 15, 2015 Study Edition)
by wisdomfrombelow inparagraphs 16 and 17 might be an explanation to how new light grows and how change is done in the society.
in paragraph 16, "apparently, elisha did not feel that since he was now at the helm, he needed to change course right away...[he] showed due respect for his teacher..." then, in paragraph 17, "do not feel that as soon as you receive some responsibility...you need to change course--to do things in a way completely different from the way they were done before...change is determined by ...the needs...as you gain experience, you will no doubt share in...changes.".
they just keep doing things as they were before until they paint themselves into a corner and must react.

Guardians of Doctrine?
by wisdomfrombelow ini can't imagine the governing body as being the "guardians of the jw doctrine".
they have the power to make new laws but i really don't think they understand the history of their doctrine.i was reflecting on truthseeker's jehovah's witness guide to understanding the generation teaching chart and how it simply showed the changes through time.
i wonder what it would look like if most of their "unique" teachings were displayed that way?there are enthusiasts of tv shows, movies, comic books who seem to know more about the characters and their nuances than the people who write them or who created them.
