  However, with the provision to write letters and to report as little as 15 minutes preaching per month, the significant reduction in preaching hours does not seem to be entirely limited to the pandemic.

  Jeffro, the direction to report even 15 minutes preaching came in September 2020,which is after the 2020 service year ended. So the impact of the 15 mi leeway will be in the 2021 totals.

  In many countries, letter writing was only for those whom you knew, and not to general public, thus resulting in a massive drop in number of hours.

  Also, the field activity was heavily dictated and regulated due to changing covid laws/rules of the country, leading to different trends for different countries

  basically, you do confirm that the rapid growth of the congregations amount in India doesn't reflect the correspondent growth of publishers, don't you?

  An increase or decrease in congregations doesn't necessarily mean an increase or decrease in publishers. In India, the increase in congregations was due to the reorganization done by the new branch committee. My own congregation of 201 publishers got split into 6 congregations last year.

  But from my humble search, and footage I was able to find, it seems they're not the KHs in the common sense.

  Yes, due to the religious persecution and political situation, most of the kingdom halls are located in commercial complexes with other retail units. Since the change in the branch committee last year, about 90% of Indian congregations have their own kingdom hall. The money gained from the sale of the old Indian Bethel (a real pristine property) was used for acquiring kingdom halls. The new bethel purchased is also located at a prime location.

  There’s no way of knowing if they have 300 new congregations in India so that’s why they put them there.

  The list of all congregations in a country/city comes up in JW.org, along with the address and contact details of the elder there. Difficult to fake the number of congregations.

  The number or 'partakers' is 'meant' to be decreasing irrespective of COVID.

  And yet they've reported the highest number of 'partakers' since 1951.

  The number of partakers won't get impacted by COVID. They are the members of the congregation, who have been attending through zoom, and would obviously attend the memorial. Some may have thought that covid is taking them to end and thus impacted their emotional closeness to be in heaven.

  Rest all figures, like bible studies, hours, memorial attendance, are dependent on how local authorities dictate the laws during covid.

  Number of congregations have increased by 675, out of which 300 have increased in India.

  The number of baptisms are not a clear indicator. In many countries, like India, baptisms were cancelled altogether since March 2020. No baptisms were allowed by the branch in red and green -zone covid areas.

  Memoril figures suffered greatly in areas where people from villages (like India) couldn't attend the digital session, neither was there any broadcast.

  Technically speaking, Pandemic is just the sign of the last days.

  JW's are waiting for the call of 'Peace and Security". and you cant have a proclamation of peace and security in the midst of a pandemic.

  So, the vaccine is needed for Armageddon to come.

  I blame the shit out of JWdom, and I hate it. It took the prime of my life and has destroyed what would be my "golden years".

  Sorry that you had to go through all of that. My post was not to minimize the pain and suffering of what others have gone through, and I sincerely apologize if it has come across that way.

  I may not fully understand the pain that some members have gone through, and I hope the best for all.

  Are there more Bethel layoffs in the immediate future?

  i just saw a post on reddit: ‘wt are prepping the r&f for changes in the march/april meeting workbook’.. in the post the person noted what they read (for march 8) and it mentioned bethel adjustments and reference was made to 2015 when bethelites were let go.. if this happens (yet again) another bunch of people are being sent home to fend for themselves in the big bad world at an advanced age with little to no preparation.

  even though this doesn’t surprise me, it could not come at a worse time with a global pandemic and massive job loss everywhere..congregations are already in turmoil because of so many who reached retirement age totally unprepared because they were told armageddon would be here before they reached that age.

  this is in addition to all the other ‘needy’ and troubled types in the congregations looking for as$istance.. i hope any bethelites there have a plan and some people they can contact.

  lived in nice houses with nice cars and had a retirement in place. And to add insult to injury, they all had kids and grand-kids. Then she asked my jw friend, "Why didn't Jehovah bless me? I did everything right"

  She signed the vow of poverty before entering Bethel. She got what she signed up for.
