has anyone here left jehovah's witnesses to join the churuch of jesus christ of latter-day saints?

what was your motivation for doing so and how has it worked out?.

if you haven't joined the lds or considered it, as an ex-jw, what is your general view of the lds faith?.

I knew mormons that studied with witnesses.... trust me, JW's are the WAAAAY less crazy option of the two

My brother died yesterday

"albert" was 55 years old, and the fifth-born of seven children.

i am the second oldest and babysat him often while he was growing up --- and while i was still at home.. yesterday, albert was out taking his usual morning stroll around his small town, when he collapsed on the sidewalk.

the doctors said it was a heart attack.

that is very sad news. I am sorry for your loss. I can only imagine the pain of losing a sibling. I do not look forward to my turn to be in your shoes.

If the GB reinstated the Book study, would it take?

i have been noticing in recent threads that people have been observing that the zeal has been waning among r+f jws.

i have observed that most zealous, die hards have gone to foreign lands, or foreign language congregations, leaving the others in the stagnant english congregations.

when you think of it, if you cared at all about bringing people into the cult, you probably would be preaching where it is fertile, the foreign field.

its a HUGE fear of mine. I highly doubt they will do this, but all it takes is for a GB top dog to drop dead and just as everytime a president died, a whole bunch of shit changes.

If a new GB prez loves the book study and sees it as the key to control the R&F, it will come back

Is asking questions of logic about a Global Flood effective in waking loved ones?

i was thinking about using a tactic of asking questions revolving around "noahs flood" to try to start my wife doing some serious thinking.

unlike doctrine that cannot often be proven one way or another, this issue can be proven beyond the slightest doubt that it is impossible.. i was thinking about asking a question something like this "i was reading about coral reefs today, and they sure are amazing!

what amazed me the most is how long it takes for them to build the reef, and how long they live!

Old Literature being destroyed again!

the society are at it again.

witnesses at a local congregation are getting rid of old literature that predates the early 90's.

you can imagine why.

hey all,

ya its the Messiah talk. I just slapped it together. Not exactly my best work but could care less

the scriptures used (Luke 24:44 and Gal 4:4) aren't exactly the greatest scriptures for the subject, hard to develop in 5 minutes. So I kinda just read them and say stuff after that sounds like its right. No one is listening anyway

what might the wts do to counteract growth stagnation and attrition?.

of course they could ditch certain teachings and practices such as blood, shunning and homophobia.. how about if they closed the kingdom hall network (all proceeds back to mothership) and built out more regional mega-churches?

the WTS wants every congregation have its own, dedicated Kingdom Hall with no multiple congregation KH's. That is their ultimate goal.

make travel to the Hall easy and close by, central in the territory and now they own 3 properties instead of only 1

funny,,,, been a long time since I did more than a reading. Public speaking doesn't bother me, and as much as the odd meeting here and there doesn't bother me I am actually feeling a bit angry about having to give a talk. Its horse shit
