  it's the day all true blue aussies throw some snaggers on the barbie, down a few stubbies, get blotto by mid arvo and then chuck on their cossies, head to the water and then spend the rest of the evening slapping mozzies, watching fireworks and attempting the aussie anthem.. so in honour* of australia day, let's hear a few of your favourite* aussie colloquialisms.. .

  Goodbye to JWD ... hello to JWN !

  as i announced some time ago, jwd as it is will not continue .... ... but .... it's clear from people's comments that they do like the site and many would like it or something else like it to continue.. one issue was the forum software that was self-developed and not really in a good state to hand-over to anyone but i've been working on that and can now reveal the first release of what will probably be called jwn (son of jwd):.

  http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/.

  it is still work-in-progress so not all features are enabled yet but it will allow you to browse the site in a similar way to this one and it is pointing at the same database (although because of the way the caching works, new posts made on this site won't appear immediately).

  RIP Dansk (aka Ian), 18.12.1953- 20.12.2008

  have posted this on the other thread but just making this one as well:

  i need to let you know that dad passed away this morning at 8am.

  he fought so hard but in the end they could not get his blood pressure to rise and he died of heart failure.

  just to let everyone on here who knows my dad, that he is seriously ill, and unfortunately on life support.

  he has renal and respiratory failure as a result of the quickest onset of pneumonia i have ever seen... it came on in the early hours of this morning.

  he is waiting for an intensive care bed but the nearest one is 200 miles away.
