Chairman Mao
by Outaservice inin the 60's and early 70's china was experiencing a 'cultural revolution' around the teachings of it's chairman mao zedong.
a photojournalist, li zhensheng according to the may issue of smithsonian magazine took many pictures of the events surrounding this event.. in the article entitled "dancing for mao' was a picture of a 5-year old girl named kang wenjie who was performing a so-called 'loyalty dance' on the last day of a 23-day gathering of a mao 'teach-in'.. along with the dance she was singing: 'no matter how close our parents are to us, they are not as close as our relationship with mao...' how absurb, thought li, who thought to himself that this worship was to the excess and the zeal very discomforting.
in the cult of mao, everyone was expected to perform the 'loyalty dance'!.

Image all important to WT
by Outaservice ini found it interesting in the july 1st watchtower (the public's edition) that in their introduction to the article 'coping with grief' they feature a scripture from gen. 37:35 and under it the caption, 'the holy bible-new international version'.. are they trying to show how reasonable they are to the public by refering to the niv instead of their biased new world translation?
also, in that same magazine in an article on 'tel arad', a place by the way, i have visited, it again mentions that......" the findings at tel arad cover a long period of bible history, ranging from the days of the judges of israel down to the babylonian invasion of judah in 607 b.c.e.
" the still cling to that date 607 in view of overwhelming evidence that they are 20 years off.

Don't let if fade........
by Outaservice ini believe the watchtower is hoping that their involvment with the united nations is something that will fade away and be forgotten!
when i was an elder, i would have left the organization immediately had i known that!
what hypocrisy after all they printed about the un beast of revelation, and here they were a supporter of it as a ngo.. everyone, should have the facts on hand if needed, and never let the issue die.. outaservice.

They got to be kidding!
by Outaservice inin the june 1st issue of the watchtower there is an article starting on page 18, entitled 'make good use of your curiosity'.
under the subheading 'caution and balance needed' they say the following:.
"obviously, there is knowledge that is not desirable because it is harmful.. curiosity about pornography, the occult, or teachings of cults.
