Why I think the Governing Body are the world's ultimate 'predators'
by Esse quam videri inin a previous posting i made the statement that the governing body were the world's ultimate predators.
i will now give some reasons why this may be so.. for the purpose of this post i will provide the following definitions: .
- predator - a human who lives by predation.

Yes, I agree with parasites, rather than predators. It doesn’t necessarily imply intention. I’m sure in nature, parasites don’t conceive of themselves as such. But the effects are the same. -

Reports of lower memorial attendance
by thedepressedsoul ini have heard a lot of reports from kingdom halls in the area that there was less than last year, for both time slots.. we had the first time slot and we were down 50+/- compared to last year.
last year we had the lobby full of people standing and this year we had empty seats and no one standing.
we ran out of parking last year and this year we made it.. like i said i am hearing quite a few reports of this from halls in our area.however, somehow the number seem to inch up every year.

BTW...this year I noticed I did not get a Memorial tract in my door. I don't know if they didn't cover my street or if the people working my street knew me and figured I didn't need it. -

Friday night might not be the most popular night for non-JWs or lasped JWs to attend. -

Petition to Revoke Scientology's Tax Exempt Status
by ABibleStudent infyi, if you feel that scientology's tax-exempt status should be revoked, you can sign a white house petition to revoke its tax-exempt status at https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/revoke-scientologys-tax-exempt-status.. i signed the petition even though i have mixed feelings about this petition.
i would prefer that dangerous cults like scientology be reformed by suspending its tax-exempt status until it makes needed changes and i do not like targeting a specific organization when the whole system should be changed.
on the other hand this type of action may help to promote debate about revising the tax codes in the us.. i do prefer revising the tax code like i wrote about in revise tax code to protect children from sexual abuse .. peace be with you and everyone, who you love,.

March Broadcast- Jehovah is speeding up the work
by adjusted knowledge ini watched some of the segments on the jw broadcast.
in the video they showed how they managed their inventory orders for the congregations.
at the conclusion it was stated by the narrator how god is speeding up the work.. the problem is the system they implemented has been used for over two decades in logistics.

"The little one will become a thousandAnd the small one a mighty nation.I myself, Jehovah, will speed it up in its own time.”--Isaiah 60:22
This verse used to be applied to the growth. But as growth stalls in some places, I wonder if the interpreation will be more than speeding up "the work" instead of speeding up the numbers coming in. As more and more changes occur in the rebranding, they can chalk it up to "the work" speeding up.

DC2015 New Release: Brochure "Return to Jehovah" for those who faded/left
by Designer Stubble init appears that a new 16-page brochure, with the title "return to jehovah" is to be released at the regional convention (dc) this year.
it would be written specifically for those faded or da/df.chapters are:a letter from the governing body1.

Growth is at a standstill in many places. Most baptisms are children of JWs...and only a third of those remain who were raised JW. There are many former JWs...it would make sense to try to get some growth that they are not seeing from door to door. -

Return to Jehovah… No Return Address
by Marvin Shilmer inreturn to jehovah... no return address .
today i read a small piece of poetic irony.
im not going to advertise from what web forum i read this, but it was so astounding i had to share it somewhere.

I can’t think of any other brochure in the history of the organization that has been dedicated to try to win people back. If this is true, it might be that the Society realizes there is a vast population of former and inactive JWs. In many lands, like the US, growth from recruitment is a bust. Most of the new members are children of JWs and only 1 out of 3 of those remain.
Many who leave, in particular the inactive, but also those who are DFed, even a few who DAed, still do not know TTATT. They have lingering feelings that it might be the truth. Therefore such a brochure could be targeting to those people. Targetting attritors might be the only way in some lands to mine any growth. -

Mind control.
by New day inin a recent thread someone mentioned that the wtbts uses mind control techniques.
do you think this is a conscious ploy?
if it is it would mean that the leaders of my religion (i am still an active jw) set out consciously to control people.

A person doesn’t become an indoctrinated cult member overnight. It is a gradual process.
Similarly, many groups did not become a cult (a group that employs mind-control aka undue influence) instantly or even purposely. They evolved from a fringe movement into a high control group over time. The group semiconsciously does what it needs to do to perpetuate itself…those fringe groups that did not evolve withered away into obscurity.
For instance, whatever happened to Barbour’s group after Russell split off from him? Does his group still exist? If it does, it is very very small.
Of course, had not WWI happened in 1914, the Bible Students would’ve had a similar fate. Even then, the Watchtower would’ve likely remained an obscure group, like the present Bible Students, if Rutherford had not taken tyrannical control and gradually creating a centralized top-down organization. -

Isn't Jerry Bergman a psychologist? This is likely a biologist by the same name.
